PARIS
TUES 11th
So we finally made it to the French catacombs which were really cool … literally - it was cold down there. Franch had an issue with having overly filled cemeteries during th 8th century so the catacombs were built. They put the bones of all the people who were already buried underground and kept them grouped by years. I think it was under 5 Euros for a student to enter but it I free if you are over 60 … haha.
We tried to go to the Modern Art Museum but of course it was only open to some special group. We hung out by the art museum fountain. Had some pad thai for lunch which didn´t really taste the same as the delicious pad thai at Siam Pasta … but it was edible.
Then we strolled through Saint Merri Church and the neighbourhood. Later that night Bridget and I took all the womyn out for dinner and crepes. We went to this
neighbourhood that I can´t remember the name of right now but it is right by Notre dame Cathedral and has really windy streets filled with food from all over the world. Waiters stand outside and try to beckon you in using the language they think you speak. It was a great night and sin duda the best night of the vacation.
We picked Chinese food and wandered for a while and eventually settled on creepes.
PARIS/ DUBLIN
WED 12th
MMMM … we woke up to delicious Venezuelan breakfast.
Then we missed our flight to Dublin.
So we spent time in the “French Country Side” (where the airport is) in Beauvais, France. We had dinner at Buffalo Bill´s … really … it was either this or McDonalds or the really expensive and gross airport food.
When we finally arrived in Dublin, I think past 11pm, we found our hostel and then walked around in the cold. Jeez- Dublin was cold! We tried to search for Bridget´s firt Guiness but didn´t want to have to pay to go into a club so we decided that she wanted to save it for later.
The Hotel
was reasonable clean and the staff was friendly but we were in a room with somewhere between 6-10 obnoxious French boys who thought it was cool to harass the only other girl (never actually met her because she was sleeping), kick our bunk bed to wake us up when they all returned really drunk, talked loudly and kept turning on the lights, and then had a lovely farting competition in the morning.
We really couldn´t leave because first of all it was at like 2 or 3 in the morning, we didn´t know what they would have done had we tried to leave, we couldn´t trust to leave our stuff there nor could we pack it all up quickly enough and manage to avoid harassment, and basically—it was our room too why should WE have to leave?
DUBLIN
THURS 12th
In the morning they were quiet. Bridget and I were fully awake and getting ready to leave and we were speaking English because we knew that they didn´t understand it. Especially not MY English—as you know I can have a language all of my own when I want to mumble and use slang.
Then we
went to breakfast free* at the hostel.
(This writing is taking too long … time for listing)

Some creepy guy was posing behind Bridget like he as going to grab her butt … I turned and saw him. I shouted “NO”. He freak out and backed off. He came back and tried to make u not be mad because I think the bartender wanted him to get out. He put his hands on our shoulders and Bridget told him not to touch us and after claiming that he wasn´t he backed off.
Went across a couple of bridges.
Walked around the shopping area. I bought some 5 Euro gloves b/c it was really cold.
Went to the tourist center.
Had some dinner at a little Irish café. Lentils (I think) and salmon pasta.
Headed to the airport… (yes that as all in one day)
WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT! The trains stopped running in London! AND THE BUS THAT WE NEEDED TO TAKE! Oh yeah AND the cabs didn´t want to
crest
This is the current female president's crest ... she just got reelected for another 7 year term. stop for us! FOR TWO HOURS LATE AT NIGHT! Bridget worked on the pay phone trying to call cab companies and I worked the streets (haha). Also, the hostal wasn´t picking up the phone so we couldn´t tell them that we were going to be late.
Eventually hailed a cab after we ordered one.
Magically found the hostal.
FRI 13th
LONDON (again)

Got a new room in the hostal because our other one was in the basement- moldy and cold. Ended up getting a 30 Euro discount because we had to share the toilet.
Missed the Jack he ripper tour, I guess.
Went out for a late Vegetarian dinner and out for drinks.
Sorry, I don´t really have good notes for that day and can´t remember more.)

Latin Quarter Area
Alex - In Paris...the area you were at with the winding streets and the waiters standing outside is called the Latin Quarter. Very cool area. Realizing you must be slammed with classwork and all. Do you have any pictures to post? Love. M
