I'll keep this short (ha!! like I ever do!)... I leave tomorrow with a good friend, Kevin, and a new friend we met online as a travel partner, John, as we embark on a two month journey through India and Nepal (Kathmandu Valley). It is my second trip to these areas, but the first for both Kevin and John... so by default I'm kind of the group leader... and if you knew me, you'd be scared! OK, not really, but I have no doubts that this will be an interesting trip! (As my mom has told me many times, Mercury is retrograde until January 30th, so "prepare for things to not go exactly as planned" - like the snow before the day I leave??)

My personal goals for the trip: don't get sick, and get home safe... and along the way I don't think I'll have much of a choice about this, but to also have an experience of a lifetime! But then how can you not?!?! Oh yeah, another... I can't really call it a "goal" per se, but I've decided to grow out a beard and mustache! Yeah, thats totally NOT me! But why not?? (OK, a goatee or two in the past, but not a beard and/or mustache!) Hopefully I can figure out this website well enough to have a thread of pictures showing the progression of my facial "growth" 😉 But for those at home, fear not!! I plan to shave as soon as I get home! I mean come on, its not like I plan to find the woman of my dreams over here! LOL, although my mom might not mind!

Anyway, tomorrow the trio departs for Delhi, via London, where we will be staying in the "colorful" Paharganj area, to put it nicely... or you could call it the "shady" side of town, albeit the CHEAP shady side of town! After a few days we will then depart by plane for Chennai, which is more or less the REAL beginning of the trip, as we will then be traveling by train or automobile for most of the rest of the trip, zigzagging up the country, until we get to Varanasi where we fly out to Kathmandu, Nepal. But thats all part of the book that has yet to be written, or rather there's a LOT more of the book that needs to be written until we get there, so we'll hold off on that until a later date. For now, its simply time to prepare to leave the rain and snow in Seattle, and hopefully arrive in Delhi in a couple days greeted by WARMER WEATHER!!

So until then, this little start to the blog will just have to do!
