Edit Blog Post

Today we walked and walked and walked and walked and then walked some more, a pleasant 7 1/2 kilometre jaunt turned into a 10 kilometre mission. Just in case anyone reads this who is thinking of doing the three temples loop from Embeke, to Lankatilake to Galadeniya. The guide books are wrong (naming no names) and get you completely lost after Embeke, hence the reason why we took 2 hours to get there rather than the estimated 1/2 an hour. It is quite amusing now( thank goodness for the tuk tuk driver in the middle of nowhere who saved us) but an hour of walking through paddy fields without a clue where you are is more than enough. People were very friendly and we felt very safe, parents do not stress, and apparently it is one of the few places where sri lankans are still very much sri lankans, so it was fine. We only learnt when we returned to our guesthouse that people regularly get lost and that the people who 'helped' us along the way probably didn't have a clue what we were saying but felt it was rude not to help (unfortunately this meant us continuing in the wrong direction for a ridiculous amount of time) apparently we did it in good time, leaving at 8 and returning at 3, other have started the walk at 8 and not returned until 6! After Lankatitlake the guidebook was fine and we made our way to Galadeniya and then back to Kandy for a swim at Hotel Suisse. The temples were interesting and it was good to see some history, some of the carving was particularily beautiful (took lots of photos( but frustratingly haven't been able to download any yet 😞). So it was definaltely worth the hassle, and a story to tell at dinner parties at that 😊
Hope you are all well not sure when I'll get the chance to do another blog as we are heading to adams peak tomorrow, then horton plains and worlds end, and then Ella so we may not have time to find a computer.
Be good
Gemma and Eve 😊
