Just a shorty this time.

Getting to Mumbai took a little longer than I'd hoped. I decided to fly this time, to avoid the long bus and train rides. The flight to Delhi was booked on the 16th at 8:40 AM, and the flight from Delhi to Mumbai at 15:45. But the flight from Kathmandu to Delhi was rescheduled to 15:55... which made my connection in Delhi impossible. So I had to get to the airport by 6:30 AM (got up at 5AM) in order to make sure the employees of Cosmic Air could find a solution asap. They arranged it so I could take a later flight in Delhi (20:20, but it was delayed by 30mins). Basically almost a full day of waiting in airports. I finally arrived in Mumbai around midnight, too late to go to the city center to find a room, looking like a rob-able www with heavy backpacks. The best alternative I could think of was to sleep in the airport, and take a taxi first thing in the morning before rush hours. My luggage alarm came in handy (thx Fredrik).

I am now staying in the YWCA, which turns out to be a very good option, as Mumbai is very expensive in terms of accommodation, especially around Christmas. The room is cleaner than most rooms I've had so far, the bathroom is modern, there is a TV and it's actually pleasant to be in the room. I could almost feel at home a little here. I can actually catch up on some sleep, *finally* :-)) Breakfast and dinner (buffet, so as much as you like) are included in the price, so I can just put my feet under the table after waking up and before retiring to my room in the evening. The newspaper is even delivered in front of my door every day.

Mumbai seems a lot nicer than Delhi so far. More modern and no rickshaws in the city center, so less hassles. The main reason why I flew to Mumbai and not straight to Kerala, is to get my visa for Vietnam. I went to apply for it the day I arrived (the 17th) and should normally get it tomorrow. Once that formality is arranged, I have to decide on how to get to Kerala. I might fly if the prices are not too high. If not, buses and

trains again. I wonder where I'll end up for Christmas.... I do miss being in Belgium (so long as it still exists) sometimes, and see friends and enjoy having my own place. I guess that's just normal, eh. Getting to Vietnam will be something entirely different again though, and Christmas and New Year will be over by then.

Take care and many hugs xxx

The guy with the motorcycle had to go to a wedding that day, and drove me there. He is a Parsi, so there is also a fire temple just next door.
