I told my boss that I was quitting on Friday and he said that he didn’t approve and that it would be impossible for me to get another job. I said that there wasn’t anything that he could do since I changed my visa. Just two weeks ago my recruiter assured him that I couldn’t get another job without his permission. He was pissed and called the immigration office. At this point I wasn’t quite sure what to do. I think he wanted to yell at me but couldn’t get the words out in English and I’m a “foreigner” so that would look bad. Immigration told him that I could work somewhere else and he told them that he didn’t understand that and wondered where he could get security in knowing that his teachers would stay. He told them that a few years ago that someone just up and left. No word. I’m not sure what the immigration officer told him. But it made me think that if he would consider the fact that teachers were leaving unhappy that maybe something should change. He told me that it was hard to find a teacher, and I told him that’s why I’m giving him a two months notice even though legally I didn’t have to stay and have no obligations to them. I was asked today why I didn’t just leave. I had to think about it, but partly it’s guilt, part of it is the money (given that I actually get paid) and part of it is because I think it is the right thing to do. We’ll have to see if I actually get paid this month though. Betty quit earlier that week too, she will be done at the end of February. I’m making a revolution here in Hayang-EUP! (once again EUP=country)
After a long week, the co-workers and I went to Rick’s house and ate way too much food and drank even more. I attempted to make salsa, but the Korean grocery stores lacked many of the main ingredients but nonetheless the co-workers loved it. It was kind of weird seeing them eat it plain with chopsticks. Earlier that week, Betty and I went to E-mart to get ingredients and she got hit on by a little boy. It was kind of hilarious. He followed us around the store trying to talk to Betty I think he was kind of intrigued by the fact that she spoke Korean and English. Finally she gave him her number and he left us alone. She said that he called and texted her later that week but she trashed it. I just had to laugh.
I went out on Saturday and came home with an American 20 dollar bill!? Seriously, what the hell am I suppose to do with that? It’s buying the first round of drinks when I get back to the states.
I got a magic perm on Sunday. It took about 2 hours. It’s a straight perm and it’s pretty sweet. My hair is crazy straight. I like it. And now I don’t have to blow dry it or use a flat iron. Sweet!
I saw "I Am Legend" with Will Smith. Had to sit in the assigned seats. That movie was weird. I have scary dreams thinking of those scary people.
This weekend I also noticed that I can hear my neighbor snoring at night. And I can also hear them getting drunk at 11am on Saturday morning. I also don’t really have a window. And the other day, I was lying in bed listening to my iPod that was plugged in through an adapter, and I could have sworn I got a little electrical shock. It felt weird.
My uncle’s coming from China this week! I’m going to Seoul on Friday!
And that allowance I tried to give myself didn’t quite work out. Korean money is colored and seems like monopoly money. I spend too much, too fast!
And I sucked at taking pictures this weekend. Sorry. I will take lots this next week!

I missed your phonecall... :( Anyway, room with no windows, ISH! Relax on the spending woman, your life seems like a soap opera over there. I like it!

hurm
this one was good, I don't know why your boss is such an idiot. If so many people have quit why doesn't he realize that he sucks and needs to change? argh!
