Hervey Bay and Frasier Island !
Hervey Bay is just the port town where you wait a while so you can jump into your 4 wheel drive and take the ferry over to Frasier Island.

I relaxed for a few rainy days while waiting for sunnier weather before booking my Frasier Island tour.

Day 1
Must have been my lucky day since I got a 4 wheel drive group of 8 people, which ment me and 7 girls 😊
So off we went on an adventure for 3 days and 2 nights with group shopping, packing lots of camping gear and bringing small packs of our own.

We took the ferry over to Frasier Island, deflated the tires of the car to make it ready for driving in the sand and then Jill switched from 2 wheel drive over to 4 wheel drive where it stayed for 3 days and actually didn't want to go back to 2 wheel drive when we came back. Took us 20 mins to get it back 😉

First we visited Lake McKenzie which is extremely beatiful, but sadly it was a bit cloudy and chilly to be truly enjoyable so we decided to come back here the last day.

We drove towards and past Eli creek in search for a good camping ground and drove a bit back and forth to find the right spot. While choosing a spot we saw an eagle fly away from the ground with a big snake in its claws ! While most of us thought it was awesome, Rumi didn't share the joy since she was very afraid of snakes and vetoed that camping spot.

Day 2
I drove for the very first time in Australia 😊 And drove for the very first time a 4 wheel drive car and in sand 😊 And drove for the 2nd time since I got my driving license 😊
I drove first to Eli creek for a refreshing water tank filling and then up to Indian heads, which we didn't think seemed that interesting so we skipped it, straight to champagne pools which were rock pools were the surf came from the ocean and created lots of bubbles that popped creating a hilarious effect which caused you to start laughing, haha :D

Becky took over the wheel and off we went back past Eli creek

to a camp spot close to lake Wabby where we met 3 other hostel cars and set up camp next to them.
Here we got some extra visitors in form of dingos! One sneaked to our camp and pushed the lid off our cooler box in search for food. For the rest of the evening the dingos were sneaking around the camp trying to get something to eat. This ment it was a lots of people taking photos while others were chasing the dingos away.

Day 3
Went straight to lake McKenzie for swimming and basking in the sun ! :P
Then back to port to fill the tires for normal road driving and here we struggled at least 20 minutes to switch from 4 wheel drive mode to 2 wheel drive mode. Luckily we got info from a rental company that you sometimes have to drive 10 meters back and forth to realease some pressure before being able to switch back.
Ended the day by going to an indian restaurant with lovely food and then crashing into a comfy bed 😊 Aaaah.

Frasier Island
Det sägs att Frasier Island har mer sand än Sahara (för att det finns sand mycket djupare än i Sahara). Kan det verkligen vara sant?
