Beach life....
Well, we have finally arrived! The flights ended up taking 26 hours in total and I'm now not the biggest fan of united airlines.... I was searched at every airport we went through! Which of course worried me by the fact that I was carrying all my Cuban documentation, but thankfully that was not found. We arrived in Cancun at 12 midnight and from what we saw it definitely lives up to the reputation as the party town!! We managed to get a lift with a local van who seemed to also be the local dealer as he was organising with other passengers in the bus to drop stuff off later! The town itself was in full swing as we drove through, but by this time we were way too tired to actually join in, but we have made plans to do that later when we return there in a couple of weeks! We met the rest of our tour group at 9am the next morning. It´s a pretty even mix of aussies, americans, english and canadian and they seem like a pretty laid back mob. The first morning we headed to the bus station and from there caught a local bus for an hour to Playa Del Carmen. I´m hoping I manage to get the photos up on this entry so you can see how beautiful it is! The water is so aqua!!! Yesterday we spent the day wandering the streets and sitting drinking beer on the beach.... It´s a hard life but I think I´m up for it!!! 😊 It´s rather touristy, but still has some local charm and there are heaps of bars and restaurants right on the beach where you can sit, relax and just soak up the atmosphere. We headed out with the group for dinner at a local mexican place which for less than $10 you can get a plate full of beans, rice, chicken, cheese, guacamole etc which was so good!!! From there we headed into the town to check out the nightlife. Even though it was a Sunday night it was still pretty busy and we ended up having a drink at the world famous tequila bar! Well, at least that´s what they told us! I now am the proud owner of a corona beer bottle with a picture of me and Sarah on the label! We also stopped off at the blue

First day at the beach!
parrot bar which is an open bar, right on the beach with sand everywhere and swings to sit at the bar, which of course we made the most of! Mind you, it could be quite dangerous sitting on the swings after one too many! The dance floor was right next to the water and everyone was having a boogie with their shoes off! Such a funny night! Today we have had another lazy one and have just come back from a late lunch sitting overlooking the ocean. It´s pretty humid and warm, but really comfortable to wander around in shorts and t-shirts. The water here is seriously amazing to see! I think tonight we are having an early one as we have 12 hours of travel ahead of us tomorrow with a 6am start to get to Caye Caulker in Belize.... am really looking forward to that as it´s apparently a small sand island with heaps of snorkelling and water sports to keep us amused! Ok, that´s it for my first update... I´m very keen to see if I can manage to upload some pictures. Will be back on as soon as possible. Thanks for all the messages, very appreciated!!!

Of course I wish I was there!
Hi Jackie. Now that looks like alot of fun! I definitely got that where-am-I-going-to-go-to-next feeling. Can't wait to show Brendon. We went camping near Ulladulla on the weekend and it was eventful - Brendon with a cold, Angus with an ear infection and rain. However, that didn't stop us from having a good time, so are happy planning the next trip (wherever that may be)....take care and I'm looking forward to more travel stories
