Puenta Sal is a small fishing village on the beach where we stopped for a couple of days en route to Lima. We pitched tents on the beach and had a tastey bbq for dinner. It had been another long day in the truck and i was ready for a beer - shock! Pauline ventured out for some horse riding at sunset down the beach on the first night which sounded very nice, although her ass was a bit sore the next day!

After Puenta Sal we headed down to Huanchaca. Here we saw some fantastic Adobes (not software manufacturers as i had suspected but mud buildings, in fact mud cities). The mud city was called Chan Chan was built around 200AD. It is pretty impressive stuff and some of the carvings in the walls are remarkable.

In the afternoon we all went surfing! Pauline booked up for a lesson and me and some of the other boys decided we didnĀ“t need lessons and just hired the boards. That was a slight oversight on my behalf as, funnily enough, the 1 lesson I had 8 years ago was bugger all use and i had forgotten everything. After 2 hours of being battered and drowned by waves i gave up. My afternoon was further ruined by turning up just in time to see Pauline surfing in, fuly standing and looking the part, on a wave the other side of the beach. She seemed a natural and all agreed she was the best in the group. Both of us can barely lift our arms above our chests now due to our extreme lack of fitness but it was a good laugh none the less.

Things on the Dragoman truck are going well and it is much easier to let someone else worry about where you are going and where you will be staying but i am looking forward to getting off by ourselves again!

However the truck has taught me a vuluable skill - the rubics cube! There is no better way to while away the long days travelling that the rubics cude. Yesterday i posted a new personal best of 1.53 seconds moving me to 3rd in the table. Needless to say the girls are not really interested in this and it is strictly a boys league only!

We are now back in Lima, Peru, hence the opportunity to catch up on the blog! Hopefully pics will follow soon when we find a computer that is quick enough to do more than 1 an hour...

galapogos bargain
Just to chear you up further, a 15 day trip UK to Galapogos was advertised in the Times for 3995 pounds each! Sounds as if you had a brilliant time, and nice to know that Pauline is more than holding her own in the adventure stakes! All activities sound great, but prefer to hear about them when safely completed thanks! Hope the tummy is settled again- Montezumar has certainly had his revenge on you Steve! Not thinking of going to Delhi are you? Take care, hope Machu Pichu lives up to expectations.
