Kevin riding in the Pantanal
My horse, Vegra, was very well mannered and easy to ride. I am also happy to report, he was the fastest in our group! The Pantanal of Brazil is the largest wetland in the world and was a personal favourite for both of us. We saw a variety of animals, including caiman, the giant river otter, water pigs and many others. Unfortunately, there is significant cattle ranching in the Pantanal, but it can only occur in most areas for part of the year since the Pantanal becomes flooded during the rainy season.
We went out to one of the ranches for horseback riding and a nature walk. The ride was about 2 hours and was phenomenal. The humidity was very high and the sun was beating down on us during the ride but you barely noticed due to the great scenery and the wind through your hair! The horses in the Pantanal are trained to take signals with one hand only so that your other hand is free to push aside bushes, flies or swing a machete!

We'll make a rider out of you yet Kevin!
Great to see you on a horse Kevin. If I can give you some tips for next time...your seat and legs look great, just try to keep your hand down...and oh yeah, your dad noticed you were holding onto the saddle horn! A "true" cowboy needs that hand for his machete! :) Ride on!
