Moscow - Russia
Bob and Sarah Peg in Red Square! Currently enjoying the blue skies of Ulaan Bataar in Mongolia!
Moscow was interesting - saw the usual stuff - the Kremlin, Red Square, took a trip round the Moscow metro - no we haven't turned into train spotters - the stations are pretty special... one had marble pillars and chandeliers, one had amazing mosaics on the ceiling and one had a whole atrium of stained glass windows! Seeing Lenin was pretty eery - the mausoleum is down a very dark staircase lined with stern looking men in military uniform and the room with Lenin is black and red with him kinda suspended there looking very fresh faced - spooky! Also took a trip to the cirucs which was spectacular although odd to see a show which still uses animals since it's not the done thing at home anymore - most of the animals looked reasonably happy - the sealions seemed to be competing with each other to get a laugh and a clap! The worst thing about Moscow was that it rained A LOT while we were there and the sky remained grey 99.9% of the time - hence our delight at the blue skies of Mongolia!!...

Then headed to Tereji national park for a couple of nights to stay with a family in a ger - was zero degrees in the day and colder at night but the wood stove in the ger kept it like a sauna - we had to go out in the middle of the night to cool off - the stars were pretty awesome though! We did lots of walks amongst the rocks and hills in the park and a bit of horse riding too! The landscape is dry and dusty just like the old western movies, especially when you come across a Mongolian horse man riding bareback at break neck speed - but with blue sky and sunshine every day it was stunning (as long as you've got thermals and a

The most lavish shopping centre I ever did see! couple of hats on!)
We are back in the city now and hoping to go to the natural history museum tomorrow as they have some spectacular dinosaur skeletons, then catching the train to China on Saturday - apparently the temperature in Beijing was 20 degrees today so might be able to shed a few layers of clothes soon!
