We are continuing to have a wonderful experience in Kenya. Although it is physically demanding and the poverty is overwhelming, it is a spirituall rewarding time.
We have been blessed by the people so much. During the Sunday service, which lasted nearly 5 hours there was a time for testimonies. Many thanked us for coming and sharing God's Word with them. THey said they had been convicted about sins in their lives and havre repented of it.
We were both moved to tears when a women from Moroki thanked Gary for coming there 5 years ago. Her husband was involved in withchcraft and Gary remembered well the night she decided to follow Jesus. For three days she came back and asked for prayer as her husband had abandoned her but she stayed faithful. Today her husband is a believer! When I think of all the expense, the conditions, the physical challenges we sometimes wonder if it's worth it. The answer is a resounding YES!
It rained very hard on Sunday and the roads became slick with the heavy clay. It was quite an adventure riding with Timothy and we wonder how long his car will hold together. We were sliding and fishtailing as if on snow. Lots of fun to try and avoid cows, sheep, goats and people all on the same trail!
On Monday we start a three day Pastor's conference. Timothy wants Karen to speak to them about their relationship with their wives. Apparently there are problems even with some pastors of abuse. It appears to be somewhat cultural and women are thought of as property. Gary will be speaking on what God expects of pastors as outlined in scripture.
On Monday we will also visit Moroki and see what remains of the church that was dedicated during Gary's first trip. It has been destroyed by flooding. We thank you for your prayers and enjoyed your responses. Thank you church family for signing up for a day to pray. We begin our day looking at that calendar!

God bless both of you! There aren't many who could do what you are doing. I'm forwarding your blog links to the C. cousins and G. cousins as well as friends. Talked to Mom on Sat. night and she sounded good. Love and prayers that your trip continues to bring people to Christ.

Thanks for the encouragement. We are both feeling good though are exhausted each night. Thank goodness for Teresa at the Karibuni Lodge who takes great care of us and fills us in on the local customs as she has been in Africa for 5 yr. Can you send on to Tom Birthday greetings and that we met a US embassy worker, Kevin Smith, who had served in the Peace Corps in Guanacaste in the late 70's. He hopes to go back there with the embassy . He works with agriculture interests in the country. We've met such interesting people staying at the lodge. Hope all is well.
