The new Rum Runner, cruising in Charleston Harbour.
As always we have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Charleston, South Carolina. It has become our hometown filled with friends, fun, and tons of great cultural and culinary delights (gotta love that southern cooking). Besides enjoying all this city has to offer we have also been busy preparing for the next adventure. Our plan is to sail to the Caribbean for the next 2-3 years; thru the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, the Windward and Leeward Islands, and the Grenadines. We are super excited and of course a little nervous too.

In preparation for this big adventure we have made some substantial changes to the Rum Runner. First off, we have upgraded to the new Beneteau 49 which allowed us to increase our capacity and comfort for the years ahead. We have added extra fuel tanks and water tanks, as well as a water maker and generator for power. Basically we have become self-sufficient (except for the diesel of course) and are now our own little floating city with population 2 and 1 poodle. We have also added an SSB (a single side-band radio) which will enable us to communicate with other cruisers up to a thousand miles away, always good

to stay connected. We love the new boat and have included these pictures of her being put together, in all the different stages of commissioning. She is almost ready for the next adventure and we plan on setting sail in November.
