Day 1—Sept 15th Perth—Dubai- London

Up at 3am. Left home 3.45 am and arrived Airport 4.15am. Once through check-in and all the official stuff, got to the departure gate with “5 minutes to spare”. On plane 15-20 minutes later and took off slightly late because, as is always the case when I fly, someone checked in and then didn’t show up at the gate. Once their luggage was off loaded, we were away.

Conditions on flight good, and the kids were well occupied by the Entertainment system. Pirates of the Caribbean very popular !

Arrived Dubai on time. Warm and 37 degrees. Very hot and hazy outside and could see very little. The coffee shop was doing a roaring trade and 4 cokes, 2 Flat Whites and A$28 later, we relaxed in the flight lounge.

Left Dubai on time, and the flight to London passed over very scenic landscape of the Mediteranean and French Alps. The in flight schedule showed us due to land in London 1 hr 15 mins early. We arrived early, but the hour we had made up, suddenly “vanished” once we got to the first clock inside the arrival hall. No problems in customs and then trained it in to Victoria station. Southern line train is much cheaper but takes an extra 5 minutes(17 pound for all of us).

Tubed from Vic Station to Earls Court. Only a few stairs with our big bags that were a small issue but everyone coped, just. Earls Court has a lift from both the District and Piccadilly line platforms.

Walked out of Earls Court, walked 150 metres and walked straight past our hotel because I thought it was further away than that. Small oversight and we were checked in by 9.30 pm which was 2 hours after arriving London, and just 26 hours after loading up the car in Perth.
