Hello from Edinburgh!! For some reason it took a day and a half to travel from Newcastle to Edinburgh, something to do with tides I think. So yesterday felt like a normal sea day - a little rehearsal in the cinema then snooze on deck before tea. We had a big concert last night in the ballroom starting at 10pm, so we had lots of hanging around. Oh, and the Captain's cocktail party to keep us busy...free champagne...concert was fab! The ballroom concert is really a cabaret slot, so we have lights & mics; it feels very strange, can't hear each other, can't see the audience etc. I'm glad to get it out the way. We were parked (or docked) next to the Royal Yacht Britannia last night, so some of the passengers went there for a reception after dinner - cost them £100 each & they missed our concert! Would've been cheaper to do it themselves for £8. Edinburgh is fab! Audrey & I went to the National Gallery for a bit of culture & saw lots of famous pictures by lots of famous artists, like er, Constable. See, it's not all food on this trip! Mind you, yesterday's lunch of salmon in a lobster & champagne sauce was something special! Also saw busking bagpipes & drummers, complete with sexy kilts!! I think Audrey is writing something for the blog - she has a saga about rosin!

We've just played for afternoon tea & managed a quick cake afterwards. Dinner in an hour, then another concert for us , this time in the Britannia lounge, our normal venue. My clarinet pads are lasting out & don't seem to be feeling the effects of my food intake, however, the airconditioning is playing havoc with my reeds! Anyone got any tips?! They're drying out so fast, might have to buy some Scottish ones!

I did eat the plate of cream, it was very tasty with some fruit! Black bullets are actually round brown mints from Newcastle. We got our juicer from the Ideal Home exhibition. Chrisitne, to add a comment you need to click on comments, I got a message from you but don't know how to add it to the blog.

It's great to get your messages - keep them coming! Next stop Invergordon.

Dear gastronaughts, What's for lunch? Glad the concerts are going well, I'm assuming your posh skirts/trousers have plenty of give, glad you took my advice. Sorry not to meet you last week Lynne, W. and I went away for a few days to visit our frinds in France, where strangely enough eating and drinking were our main jobs and responsibilities. Baggy trousers came in handy!!!! The cakes in La Rochelle were to die for....... I resorted to my sea-food- and-eat-it-diet I'm afraid. Back to the grindstone now.... have to pay for my lovely Cioch coat somehow. Take care, "2". Take care and eat yer greens, wear yer vest etc...... Shirley.
