Note: For all you lazy readers, i have a summary at the bottom of the blog. Enjoy!
Day 1 - August 18, 2007 (Canada Time) 1:27 PM.
So after some confusion in the parking lot, and some confusions of fees, I’m finally here waiting for Gate D65 to open. I know this isn’t really exciting, but why not start my blog with something unexciting like sitting in the departure place thing.
AH! PEOPLE are lining up! Time to save and shut off laptop.. boy was this short *sigh.. im UP UP AND AWAY!
August 20, 2007 (Singapore) - 12:39AM I’M HERE IN SINGAPORE!! Anyways, all I guess I could talk about is my flight.
Flight #1 (Vancouver to Seoul) - 10 Hours
So, as I’m entering the plane, my brother calls me. The end.
So, I THOUGHT I was going to be in the frontest seat, but I was actually in the backtest seat. You know what’s the cool thing? There was no one sitting beside me on both sides, so I made some great use of the extra space . Anyways, so I made a friend; an older lady who sad one
seat away from me and is going to perth. She flies a lot, so she was great in helping me with any questions I had.
Wow, Singapore airlines aircraft upgraded quite a bit. I didn’t know how to operate the TV! The controls are all high tech and there were so many options. About a couple hours later, I got my first Singapore airlines meal in 9 years. It was chicken with potatoes, and bread and salad and crackers. For desert, they gave us Ice cream .. YUM! After eating the ice cream, I realized that I dropped a couple chocolate droppings on my shirt, jeans and belt.. sigh haha.
Overall, it was a good flight! I love Singapore airlines and their service and everything else. I watched (in order): Chaos, Blades of Glory (so good) Lucky You, and 3/4th of Meet the Robinsons. OH and I worked on my resume too. This guy almost killed my laptop because I was working on my resume on the tray, and he friggin pushed his seat backwards nearly killing my laptop. BAH! I asked him to move forward and he did. Sigh lol
Then I arrived in Seoul.
Changi Airport
Wow..this airport is humongous Seoul: Boring. Line up. Got my transfer pass thing. Sat down. Wrote cover letter. Lined up to board airplane. The end.
Flight #2 (Seoul to Singapore) - 6 hours This was my ‘hope I get a lot of sleep’ flight. So, on THIS flight, the airplane was basically half empty (why? I have no idea). But that meant, I could MOVE to a WINDOW seat without anyone beside me again . So I had a lot of trouble trying to sleep on the airplane, and when I was ALMOST asleep, the food was coming. So I stuffed myself with more food (chicken again, but with turkey salad?). Then I slept like a baby after lol.
I slept my way through most of the flight (Well I guess, only 3 hours worth). I was kind of uncomfortable; some part due to the fact that my shoulders were sore (carrying around a heavy backpack most of the time I was walking).
And then, ARRIVAL UPON SINGAPORE!!
Changi Airport - Singapore So upon arrival, I was kind of confused as to where to go. My dad didn’t really give me directions, but after a while of
Canadian!
Brought around the canadian flag wherever i went walking I found the Transit Hotel. The plan was to stay in the Airport Hotel till the morning when I have to depart by 9. But guess what, the hotel was FULLY BOOKED!
So… plan b? I had none. I walked around the airport for about 1 hour with my friggin heavy backpack. I swear, this airport is like a gigantic MALL. There are stores like Gucci, prada, coach, nike store, and a bunch of electronics and food stores.
OH FUNNY STORY (kinda I guess). So I was walking around the airport, and I kept hearing this familiar sound. And it just kept on appearing every few mins or so and it always followed me around. After a while, I was like OH Omygod. It was my Cellphone in backpack that was turned OFF, but the ALARM was RINGING to wake ME UP haha.
I really really want to go outside and take photos. The city is seriously really beautiful, but I guess I’ll do that on my return trip ‘cause im incapable of carrying my backpack around right now.
I guess the plan for the night is just to stay up till 9am. So I just went around the airport with two goals:
#1) Get Coffee of some sort
#2 ) Find a laptop outlet.
Found both, and here I am. I look like a hobo though ‘cause I’m sitting on the ground. Don’t think this outlet was meant for other people to use but mEH. I may just read a book, or watch a movie, or listen to music or .. something throughout the night. There are some 24/7 shops around.
Oh by the way, its 24 degrees celcius outside, and its like 1:30AM. That’s INSANE! Wish me luck with the weather in Brunei! *sob*
Please note: I think that some of my blogs may be long as I like to rant and just talk about useless things. So I’m going to make it easy on my readers by having a Summary Section. K thanks, Bye!
Summary: I boarded Singapore airlines from Vancouver to Seoul and it was a great flight. Watched 4 movies (Chaos, blades of glory, lucky you, meet the Robinsons) and the food was great. Didn’t really want to sleep on the flight as I had planned to sleep on the later flight.
We stopped in Seoul, and 1.5 hours later, we boarded the plane again to go to Singapore. Slept through most of the flight; no one was beside me so I took advantage of the space .
I arrived in Singapore airport hoping to stay in the airport hotel. But guess what, it was FULL! So right now, I’m aimlessly staying in the airport on my lappy. The airport is pretty crazy though, has a lot of high end shops and things to do. It even has game consoles! I might try it out later.
But right now, I have 8 hours to kill before I depart to, BRUNEI! Woot WOOT!
Thought(s) of the day: Singapore airlines is really, really Good!
Where did the day go? I think the airplane is a time travelling machine! It so IS! It’s like, AUGUST 20TH already! I have no idea what happened to August 19th. I lost a day in my life, HELP ME! I can never regain August 19 in my head! What do I write on my calendar for august 19? HUH! NOTHING!
I wonder what the rate is for my flight if I convert to $ per KM. I swear it’s like a few cents.
I can’t believe I’m going to Brunei. Its been 9 years, and I’ve always wanted to go back to visit my family. It’s a bit unreal, and I really don’t know what to expect. Every year I say I’m going to go back, and this year I’m actually GOING! I really hope to take advantage of this trip as I’m super grateful for it. It’s going to be a good 3 weeks!
Moral(s) of the day: Have a plan B in case your hotel is fully booked.
Pack a lighter back pack
Feeling(s) of the day: I feel like a hobo.
