Whew! If we thought getting into Cnada was an adventure, coming home to the US was worse!!! After being harassed a bit byt the customs official, though, we made it back into our home country. Funny that you can leave so easily, but you can't come back!

We drove across the small portion of Ontario that borders a couple of the Great Lakes and exited into Detroit, Michigan. We went over the Greenfield Village to check it out while we were there. It's a village (as well as a museum and factory) built by Henry Ford. He collected building and brought them to this village from all over the world, stating that he wanted to create a place that was trapped in time, capturing the inspriring work and minds of the people and inventions in his lifetime. The feature of the village is Edison's workshops, but there are also building there such as the courthouse where Lincoln practiced law, the bike shop where the Wright Brothers started building the airplane, and the home of the first black woman to have a cookbook published (which also happens to be a restaurant featuring that food). All around teh 90-acre village model T's give rides, old coaches and carriages shuttle passenger, a steam locomotive connects the different areas, and period crafts and trades are still practiced. There's a working weaver, glass blower, printer, wool maker, tin smith, and much more. Plus, throughout the day there are programs and presentations, you can blow your own glass flower, and enjoy all kinds of period foods and goodies like custard and old fashioned beer. It was awesome to walk around and enjoy.

We didn't do the museum or the Ford factory, but those are awesome too...we were too excited to get on the road to Cedar Point in Ohio. Cedar Point, which is not only out favorite amusement park, has also been voted the best amusement park in teh world 9 years in a row! We spent two days there, riding all of the 17 roller coasters (including their new one they put in this year) and running over to the waterpark whenever it got too ridiculously hot. Ohio and Indiana rival Florida on the humidity scale, so it was a little ridiculous during the hottest part of the day...but waterparks are always a good remedy. We had an awesome time, avoided most of the lines, and got our adrenaline pumping on all of the fantastic rides. Woohoo Cedar Point!!!!!!!
