L.A. to Veracruz

We left Xalapa today, and I felt a bit sad. Xalapa is a very nice city with many small cobblestone streets and alleyways with restaurants and cafes. Last night, a few of us went our for dessert in the center of the city. We found this one restaurant with live music and a lot of people talking and having a great time. I felt very safe and secure in this city and would really like to return.
We traveled a lot today. First we went to the Hacienda Lencero, which was once the home of President Santa Anna. It was a beautiful home with gardens, lakesm and trees. There were also antique coaches that were used for traveling at that time. Then we went to Coatepec for lunch. Coatepec is famous for its coffee, so of course I drank a giant cup of it while I was there. It started to rain when we left the restaurant, and in the two minutes that it took me to run to our bus, I was drenged. It was pretty funny! Driving into Veracruz you could smell the ocean. We arrived just in time for dinner, so we went to a restaurant in the center of town. We were lucky to end dinner just as a music conert was starting in the zocalo (town square). There was also a 'baile folklorico' group from Veracruz that performed various dances from Veracruz. Its very impressive to see how each state in Mexico has its own style of dance an music.
