Hello,

We were off to grand slow start today....we aimed for 10am takeoff and I think we left at 1:15. It was sad to leave our house....all of our kids were born in that house. We have so many wonderful memories and friends that it was difficult to leave. I'm finding myself finally feeling sad....the last week has been filled with details and more details.

After leaving Minneapolis, we went to visit Joe's dad Dwight in Stewartville. We were all glad that we saw him and his partner Patti before we left. He is moving into a nursing home tomorrow. He looked great.

Here are todays lessons from the road. First, if you buy a new camper, you should try it out for a weekend before going across the country. We learned that we may not be using the campers breaks, so our poor van is breaking for the whole thing. We also learned that we may be on the edge of having too much weight. YIPES. We also learned that when you attach a 3500 pound camper to the back of your van, your miles per gallon of gas goes down very quickly. We also learned that when you pull into a campsite, you have to pull close to the hookups before you detach the van. Last but not least, we learned that arriving at a campsite with 3 kids at 10pm is NOT a good idea. Simone thought it was time to go to the park, and Ethan was very tired and crabby. I guess we will continue to learn little tidbits like this throughout. Too bad for you that you are reading it 😊

As I mentioned above, I am quite sad now. I know that the kids have been feeling the stress of moving and of leaving their friends. Ethan most of all will miss all of his great friends in Minneapolis. I'm glad we are moving now, instead of when they are all older.

Thats it for now. I'm signing off from Sioux Falls South Dakota. Tomorrow to the Badlands.

Kerri
