From the roof of my hotel. I'm going to try to get a better shot tonight.
Tonight is my last night in Athens. Tomorrow I start the journey to Florence (train to Patras, ferry to Ancona, train to Florence). Yesterday I met a man who took a ferry from Turkey to Greece and had a miserable time. Hopefully my trip will be much more enjoyable.

I've done quite a bit the last few days. Went to the Byzantine and Christian Museum, which M would love. Also went to the Museum of Cycladic Art which was new to me and really interesting. Went to the Cape of Sounion which was a fantastic trip and today did a tour of three nearby islands (Poros, Hydra, Aegina).

So far language hasn't been much of a problem. I've learned how to say a few things in Greek, hello, thankyou, goodmorning but not much beyond that. Most people have a basic understanding of English though. Some of my favorite experiences though have been when the person I am speaking with knows no English. I was amazed that I was able to comomunicate to the cab driver where I wanted to go. It's interesting to see how people (me) can get around language barriers. Same goes for tavernas or shops.

In the front you can see Hadrian's Arch, behind that Temple of Olympian Zeus, and nestled in the trees the Olympic Stadium.

I would love to add more than two or three pictures at a time, but uploading pictures takes forever (at least at the place I'm using for internet) so that's all you get for now. I'll set up a webshots page once I get to Edinburgh with all my pictures (over 200 so far). Meg, I have a bunch of windows, and Dad a have a picture of an Alpha Romeo.

... just added two pics, again would put more, but takes forever. I promise I have lots of cool pics of other monuments, islands, and everything else. Next post, Florence.
