Lake Tahoe is a beautiful area with tall mountains, green trees, and a huge lake. The lake is colored a soothing blue-green and stretched as far as we could see. We arrived at Lake Tahoe in the mid-afternoon in a good mood from the awesome scenery, and were even more excited to find that our hotel was also a resort/casino (cha-ching!). With this said, we knew we were going to be in for more fun gambling and hanging out by the beach. After check-in we explored the entire area and made plans for our time there.
We went downstairs at seven to begin our gambling adventures, hoping to redeem ourselves from our awful luck in Vegas. The night didn’t start out the way I planned as I lost $60 in another poker tournament, taking the worst beat of my life. I know everyone has a “bad beat” story but here is mine. I had pocket Aces to start (best possible hand), saw an ace, 6, 10 on the flop for three of a kind (three Aces - again best hand), a 6 on the turn (highest full house), and a 10 on the river (again, highest full house Aces
over tens). Getting called on my “all-in” by a little old lady, she flipped over two 10’s, giving her four of a kind. Basically, there was only one card in the entire deck she could have gotten to beat me, and she got it on the last card (OUCH!). Disappointedly, I walked back to see Allison at the blackjack table. She was up slightly and I put my last $15 on the table. Then, the fun began.
We caught fire . I mean red hot on fire. From 9-3 we couldn’t lose a hand. The dealer kept serving us 20s and blackjacks. Our table was full of young, fun people to hang out with, and we were thoroughly enjoying our great luck. With the drinks flowing, a great group of people to talk with, and the cards being kind, we played for hours having the time of our lives. We quit playing at three in the morning, walking away with $700 between us (sweet!), and got some food before heading to bed.
The next day, we slept in, got breakfast and walked down to a small beach area next to the lake. It would have been really pleasant
had a strong wind not been blowing off the lake that day. So, while Allison laid out in the sun, I took the car to a local auto shop to get an oil change, tune up, etc. for our upcoming long drive. When I got back, we decided to get back to the card tables and see if we could continue on our scorching streak.
When we got back to the casino, we were happy to know we were somewhat familiar faces. Many of the dealers and players there remembered us and asked to recount our story from the previous night (hey, it was a real small casino). Others had heard about our cross-country trip. One dealer whom we didn’t even know, but knew us, kept referring to us as Bonnie and Clyde.
Well, that didn’t last for long at all. We started that night off cold, and ended it cold. After another night of gambling, we managed lose all the money we had made the previous night (tear). At the end of the night, after we had lost the last of our profits, we headed back to the room to rest up for the long trip ahead
of us. We were disappointed we had lost the money, but didn’t regret going back to gamble at all. We had a lot of fun those nights, and though we didn’t have that money in our hands, we think it was well worth it for all the fun we had.

You just had to give it back.
I knew you would decide to gamble more and give the money back. At least you got the most for your entertainment dollar. Love you, Mom
