Visiting the Drill Instructor

After visiting Jacksonville again on our way up the East coast, and spending a day at the beach with one of Danielle's friends from college who's now a pilot in the Navy, we left for Beaufort, South Carolina. We stopped on the way in Savannah, which we had planned on walking around in, to admire the beauty and charm of the city. However, even though it was about 5 pm once we reached the city, it was still too hot to comfortably leave the animals in the camper for long. So, we parked, walked around for half an hour, and continued on our way. Definitely one of may places we'd love to come back to later and explore more in depth.

In Beaufort we visited John (who had driven down to visit us in Jacksonville). He was about to pick up his 3rd cycle as a marine corps drill instructor. On our last morning there, we even went in to watch him for a few minutes as he was introduced to his recruits and swore his oath to train them well. Then, for a minute, we got to watch him scream at them all. 😊

But, the day before that, we got to hang out with John, his girlfriend Robyn, and their puppy Brady. Brady was Echo's best buddy, though he only weighed about 13 pounds. After Brady got used to Echo and his enormity, they got along great. It made us really want to get Echo a little tiny puppy! Thankfully, the urge passed, and Echo still just has Rummy to play with.

Also, as a side "trip", we went to see Ratatouille in the theaters for Danielle's birthday. yay!
