Vicky's turn driving on Phillip Island The end of the journey was pretty much made up of running from rain ect. We spent the next night in a windy town called Sale this time sheltered between buildings to reduce sway of the van. We had spent the day driving along through rivers on the road, fallen trees and water as far as the eye could see! Everything was submerged, including Sale by the time we got the the next town, Stratford upon the river Avon (ring any bells?) We found a campsite here again but they had had 6 trees fall that day alone so we passed on staying there. As the rest had done, Stratford was under water by that evening after the river Avon burst its banks. You'd think we were dragging the storm behind us!
Thankfully we got a break on our penultimate day and headed straight for Phillip Island, the last place on the route we really wanted to go and the only one not under water! It is a small Island just South of Melbourne and is home to a koala sacntuary, a colony of penguins and a motor racing circuit. We both really wanted to see the penguins on the

A tap mystiaclly hovering over the roof!island but the thieving bastards who run it wnated too much money for the privelage of getting anywhere near them and had also made a spectacle of them with hundreds of tourists driven in just to see them. Instead we went to a place called A Maze 'n' Things which turned out to be great fun. It is a kind of fun house but on a much larger scale and there was also a mirror and outdoor maze which were fun. We also had the bonus of the first bit of sunshine in days.
We then left the island and headed up towards Melbourne...

Glad to see you're back on blog. Thought you'd been washed away! Don't know what Diane will think of her daughter's head being served on a platter - hope she's recovered from the shock.
