Night Out!
And so we have come to the penultimate leg of our journey, Singapore overland to Bangkok. With only 3 weeks to do this we wasted no time in getting through Singapore and Malaysia (1 week) but in doing so we have once again managed to pack a lot in.
Singapore was a great city for shopping and its reputation of being clean and running like clockwork certainly proved to be right. We spent 2 days exploring the city. With Little India being on our doorstep we had a quick look before making our way into the centre visiting; the famous Bugis Market, China Town and Clarke Quay at both day and night.
We paird a quick visit to the Harbour Front the next day, seeing ships come and go and having a view of the nearby Sentosa Island. That afternoon we jumped on a bus for 6hours which took us to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
We arrived in Kuala Lumpur early evening to a magnificant display of city lights and the skyline was dominated by the infamous Twin Towers and Sky Tower - stunning!!!
We had an amuzing episode getting to our accommodation. We were back in the world of bargaining

Beginning of our Jungle Trek
and had been advised not to pay more than 10 Ringits to get to our hostel. After agreeing this price with one taxi man and setting off down the road, he all of a sudden upped his price to Rm 20 and when we said "No!!!", we were chuckedout of this car onto the street, bags in tow!!!
Despite this we eventually reached our hostel to find a steep staircase awating us. We were kindly helped with our bags by a group of young English business men living in KL who were having a drink in their local bar, situatied underneath our hostel.
After settling in we popped down to join them for a drink to say thanks before heading to bed.
Our next couple of days were spent sight seeing in KL visiting places such as China Town, the beautiful Lake Gardens and of course the Twin Towers. We also managed to fit in a night out with the guys from the first evening.
Our next stop in Malaysia took us to Taman Negara - a national park in the centre of the country home to the oldest primary rainforest in the world. We embarked on a 2 day/1

Boat Ride into the Jungle
night jungle trek, where we were led by a local guide through the thick forest covering 20 km over the 2 days.
This turned out to be one of the hardest things we have ever done. From being eaten alive by leeches, wading through rivers knee deep, climbing over and crawling under fallen trees, being covered from head to toe in mud, dodging poisionous scorpians and showering in streams using pots and pans........all with blisters on our feet and sweating like we have never sweat before!!!
OUr one night in the hjungle was spent in a cave on the hard floor, with bats, rats and cats.........oh and snakes!!! Cooking by campfire our guide prepared us a traditional Malaysian feast which was suprisingly tasty and we filled the night chatting to our other group members by candle light.
Our final stop in Malaysia was at the beautiful hill station of the Cameron Highlands. We only really had one full day to see this area so we did a half day tour which tok us to 7 key stops in the region. These included: a Buddist Temple, Rose Gardens, a Strawbeey farm, Butterfly and Insect Park, Tea Plantations and a Bee Farm.

The Tea Plantations were definitely the highlight of this tour and they are what the Cameron Highlands and renowned for. We were shown the tea making process and took in the views fo the surrounding plantations. This whole area was very pictoresque allowing us to relax after our intense jungle experince and prepared us for the 24 hour bus journey to Phuket, Thailand that we would have to endure later on in the day.

Look Good
Hi Girls, As ever another brilliant blog in keeping with the experiences you are all having. Hopefully from Thailand to Hong Kong you will at last be able to look good in your photos as the hair straighteners should have arrived with Chris! He has made 4 consecutive flights to get them to you after Richard's initial journey from Bedford to Aspley Heath and it must have increased his luggage load considerably, as he usually travels with just 7 kg!!! Have a fantastic time in Thailand. Love you and miss you loads, xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Jesus, tho leeches and scorpians! Could you imagine what i would have been like, especially after my pathetic behaviour with the horseflies on Fraser, haha. You are all looking gorgeous in your photos, and once again the photos are amazing. Hilarious about being chucked out of the taxi. I especially like the omagone you guys with your bags in tow, ff-ing and blind-ing no doubt.. or maybe that would just be me?!! :-) hehe. Love you all. Ally xxx

Hiya
Hi Micky and Girlies. Sounds like you're having a brilliant time and so sad it's all coming to an end soon :-(. What will we all do without the tropical travel blog email in our inbox on a Monday morning to lift our mood? Did you make it to Raffles to have a Singapore Sling? If not, next time!! Take care Hxxx
