Edinburgh Castle
Taken not far from my hostel! I set off on Saturday morning (a little hungover after a night out with David and Clare!) for my train to Edinburgh.
I had Sat and Sun on my own to wander around Edinburgh. It is such a beautiful city. The castle in amazing, I loved how it is basicallty in the middle of the city. I had a view of it from my hostel room!
Monday, the tour began! Very nervous, I stood there looking at everyone to figure out if they were on my tour and if they were P.L.Us!
I met Jane, a kiwi (I tried not to hold that against her) in the line. We sat up the back and became part of the backseat bandits gang! Along with Matt and Pat, then later Katrina.
We set off to the William Wallace memorial which strikes an amazing likeness to a Hollywood star who may have been in a lottle trouble last year!
Then through Glencoe in which the infamous massacre of the Macdonalds by the Campbells took place. Never trust a Campbell!!
After a night in Oban, where I had the most amazing salmon steaks (great seafood in this town), we went to see
In Edinburgh Castle
Taken at the cannon opening. the the beautiful castle Eilean Donan. It was nice and wet along the way, but nothing like the day we had in Skye the next day. We stayed in hostel which seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere, great views though.
The heavens opened though and we were soaked everytime we got out, we did manage to see alot of the amazing scenery.
However after some praying and singing of Annie ("The sun will come out tomorrow" - thanks to me!) the sun did appear the next day leaving Ullapool on our way to Loch Ness.
We managed to finally see some more of Ben Nevis without it being hidden behind a cloud. Pretty spectacular! We also saw some amazing waterfalls along the way.
We visited a whiskey distillery - I wish I had not had so much to drink the night before because there was no enjoyment for me (or the rest of the group). Smelling fermentation on a dodgy stomach is not good! I managed to have a sip of the free sample though - couldn't let it go to waste!
We went to Fort Augustus where we had a great presentation about life in the
The Compass Buster
Our tour from 28th May to 2nd June! highland way back when. I tell you what there is no way I would put my hand up for their life!
That night some of us went on a boat cruise on Loch Ness in search of a monster!!! Very convincing can I just say. Although very amusing that night when some locals told us that the tour guide on the boat was the town drunk!
The next day the whole tour group did a little chant and dance to entice Nessie to come to the surface, unfortunately we were left disappointed!
It was then time to make the long trip back to beautiful Edinburgh to finish our tour.
I have to say it was an amazing trip and our tour guide, Martin, was fantastic.
Scotland is very wild and sexy!!!!
