Rachelle RMay 27th 2007 Day 11:
Tuscany Bike Tour today. It was soooo much fun. There were about 17 of us total. 11 were students from Illinois, a single lady from San Diego, a couple from Florida, and another couple from Britain.
We met up at the main office and walked to the bike shop. Our tour guide, Stephan, was from Germany. He was very fun and would tell us some of the history behind some buildings and such.
We then biked through parts of the city...scarey! And eventually uphill through the outskirts of Florence to Tuscany! It was everything I imagined. Rolling hills, wineyards, olive trees. After an exhausting upward climb through the streets, we settled in for lunch at a fancy restaurant...3 course meal! We began with bread, cheeses, meats for an appetizer and drank some chianti. Then the main course consisted of a pasta with rabbit (yes, rabbit!), ravioli, a chickpea soup and more chianti. We also had cheesecake for dessert and espresso. Delicious!
The weather wasn't great...it actually rained throughout and while we were in the restaurant, it hailed for a few minutes. But the entire bike tour was so
