Australia - Surfer's Paradise

We arrived in Surfer's Paradise at 12.30pm on Sunday 20 May and checked into the Islander Resort Hostel. We stayed in a hotel style room with 2 bunk beds. After walking along the beach and around the town, I had a brief siesta followed by a 2 hour internet session. In the evening we went to an Indian restaurant for dinner and then went to sleep at 11pm. On Monday, Ian and I went to Wet'n'Wild waterpark with Dan and Rich. It was an overcast day but we had great fun and we didn't have to queue for any rides. We were at the park from 10am to 4pm and went on each ride several times - our favourite being the Tornado. After getting the bus home, I had a siesta before we met up with Dan, Rich, Matt, Ian, Alex and Kev for drinks and card games in the common room. At 11pm, we all went to Shooter's Bar where we stayed until 4am. On Tuesday, we went to the beach and just lay there sunbathing until 3pm. After making lunch in the hostel kitchen, we had a 2 hour internet session. In the evening, we went for a walk and had dinner before having an early night. On Wednesday, we went to Dreamworld themepark. After arriving at 10.30am, we went straight onto the Giant Drop before watching Australia at the Imax theatre. The tiger show was next followed by the Tower of Terror. We walked through the wildlife sanctuary and had lunch watching the crocodile show. After the log flume, we walked around the Big Brother studios and then the Nightmares indoor tent (a live walk through scare attraction). We watched Bears at the Imax and then went on the rapids before going on Wipeout and the Cyclone rollercoaster. By the time we got home at 5.30pm, we needed a nap. After dinner we had a few beers in our room while watching Queensland Vs New South Wales rugby and then we went out to a few bars. At 4.30am I went to Charlie's Bar to watch the Champions League final and eventually got home at 7am. After a couple of hours sleep, we went to the beach for the day. After a siesta, we went for a walk and got dinner before going on the internet for a couple of hours. On Friday, we checked out at 10am and spent some time in the games room before going for lunch at an Irish bar overlooking the beach. After lunch, we went to a 'glow in the dark' tenpin bowling centre. Both games went down to the final frame and we won one each. After sitting on the beach for an hour, we went to catch our 4.30pm bus to Brisbane.
