Hey all, sorry about the lack of blog lately, but we’ve been entirely pre-occupied with sunbathing, shopping in Bangkok, diving and boating around Thailand’s islands.

I guess where we left off, we were on our way to Bangkok to celebrate Kris’ birthday. Izabela had originally planned for a huge get-together/ reunion with many of the cheery folk we had met in Utopia, but sadly, everyone arrived a day or two too late. So we made the best of it cramming Kris’ birthday with loads of tiny fun stuff to do. We went to the Paragon theatre, watched a movie in the VIP cinema---an entire theatre specially designed for VIP, like us! It’s so hard to describe this theatre’s magnificance, and pictures would never do justice (so we didn’t take any). Imagine this….you buy a ticket in this marble palace, and then get directed by two beautiful Thai ladies to the lounge area (exclusievly for the VIP). In the lounge, guests are separated by sheer maroon curtains hanging from the 30’ ceilings to the ground. Plush red sofas, fresh lilies, complimentary drinks and biscuits, as well as warm smiles all around made the waiting time for the movie the most

enjoyable we’ve ever had. We were then escorted pair by pair to our “love-ly lazy boys” in our own plush cubicle. We couldn’t believe that we weren’t going to see anyone’s head during the whole movie, and nobody would be able to see us snuggling and snogging (ha). The lazy boys were leather, and reclined right back so that we were lying on our backs. Then they brought us SATIN blankets and pillows. Paramount….hmmmm, so shite compared to this. Kris was also treated with some delicious caramel popcorn, which put the happiest of smiles on his face. Oh yeah, the movie we saw was “The Number 23” which was awesome. Anyone who likes Jim Carrey in “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”…..will love him in this.

After the movie, we had dinner at this sushi place. Not the best we’ve had, but good enough to make our tummy’s happy. We didn’t quite know where to take the night from there, so we did the outrageous, and hailed a cab to take us to the red light district of Bangkok---Patpong. Yes, we went to see a ping pong show, and all we have to say is that it was the

most enlightening experience. Ha just joking. Revolting. But funny! We couldn’t take pictures, so sorry. And for those fo you who don’t know what we’re talking about, for your own sake, don’t take the time to figure it out!

Izabela also forced Kris to go shopping with her and in the run-around, we found the perfect KRIS shirt….a mix between Hawaii, groove, and pink.

The next day, people we knew from Utopia started showing up, like Chance, and then Tall Freddie. That night we had a good drinking night with the boys going all night and Izabela calling it early after too many Bacardi Breezers. The highlight for the boys was their ducky puppets that they bought off a drunk seller on Koh San. One by one, they would go up to random people on Koh San, and squeek the toy right in their face---with every squeek came a hilarious reaction. One Thai ladyboy got so mad at Kris that she/he attacked him, seriously wanting to beat him up. Stepping back, Kris continued to squeek his new toy and performed a little dance.

Then, Nicolina and Toni showed up for some more ‘Happy Times.’ With all of us there in one spot, we had a night of re-uniting, but sadly everyone was going home except for Toni, who was going back to Cambodia, and us.

We chilled out in Bangkok for a few more days, catching another movie—“Shooter” which was filmed in Vancouver (GO JEFF FLOWERDEW! We saw you in the movie escorting Marky Mark into the boardroom! And yes, we both thought you looked great. ) And yes, Mr. JEFF HALL, we waited long enough to see your name scroll up in the credits. Good Job. You the man!
We decided one day to step into this travel agency only because it was blistering hot outside, and there was Air-Con inside this place. We ended up finding a horse-shoe and a friendly face who gave us an incredibly awesome deal on the open-water diving course in Koh Tao. So, that same night, we packed our bags and headed off for some much needed beach time and a new experience.

The place we booked through was amazing—Coral Grand—probably the nicest place we’ve stayed at so far. Our room was cleaned everyday and we were given fresh towels, new shampoo and soap, shower caps, q-tips and drum

roll…..toilet paper! After a week in the classroom and browsing the coral, we became certified open-water divers (up to 18m). The course was super fun, especially since our guide looked, talked and acted like Shrek. We loved him. He was huge and he man-handled Kris in the pool he first day because he wasn’t in the right spot. Underwater, because he couldn’t speak, his eyes became the strong focus and, sometimes, just by looking at his eyes, you could tell he was mad!! Izabela had a few complications with taking her mask off and putting it back on, but Paul (aka Shrek), helped her get through it. Eventually we went down under and saw some amazing fish. Our highlight was seeing a family of clown fish in an anenami. There were tiny little babies the size of our pinky nail, a mama, papa, and some bigger brothers and sisters. A video was made of our diving, but it was too expensive, so we’re getting this guy to burn us a copy. Yeah!!

Then, sadly, it started raining! But luckily, it didn’t dampen our diving because of course, we were underwater the whole time. Our beach time, on the other

hand….yeah, suffered.
We headed off to Koh Phangan for the Full Moon Party, where we ran into Mitch and his two Swedish friends. We decide to buy a big bottle of Vodka and some juice, and sat on Mitch’s porch drinking away until Izabela got up after her last glass and felt like she was going to puke. So, all 5 of us headed back to our guesthouse to drop her dizzy body off. That was the end of the Full Moon Party for her. Kris on the other hand, strolled onto the beach, all smiles and partied until 1pm the next day. Well, he didn’t party until that time, but he went missing until that time. Well, what we didn’t know until he came back, was that he was stranded on a secluded beach with 3 Thais until that time. They decided at 4am to scale the rocks and make it their mission to get this small, secluded beach, you can barely see from the Full Moon Party. They headed off with Kris as their guide (see the irony). They got to a point where they had jumped so far down that they couldn’t get back up and then

got to a point where they couldn’t go any further. They all wanted to kill Kris of course, but his big smile changed their minds and instead of climbing the rocks, they travelled up and through the jungle. After about an hour, they found a small opening which resembled a trail which they followed until they reached a landslide. Treacherous to cross, after the landslide, came a glorious beach with a naked westerner hobo lying face-flat in the sand. He everntually got up and ran back into the jungle and it was at this time, the gang decided that they weren’t going to risk walking back and instead the Thais, pulled out their cellphones and called some friends in Bangkok, who made it possible for a boat to come pick them up. Once the boat came, 3 hours later, they had to swim over to the boat because of shallow waters, soaking all the cellphones.

Kris came back all smiles with loads of scratches all over his boady, as if he had been in some cat fight. His feet were all torn up from the rocks and his Thai friends were exhausted. Mitch and Izabela were waiting in the Chicken Schnitzel place when we saw him and although she was a bit peeved for having to worry so much, Kris’ smile and story made the whole situation a lot funnier.

Our friend Abi is here with us now, well has been for the last 4 days. She loves us so much that she came all the way from Bangkok just to spend her last week of travelling with us before she goes home to Liverpool.

The last 3 days have been amazing beach weather, and our bodies are thanking us for all the sun tanning. We also went on a boat trip yesterday, which was good turned to bad as a thick black storm came over us drenching us in rain. But all is good, we’re still alive and we were able to get dry, put some new clothes on, throw a parka over and eat some falafels.

That’s enough for now….that’s one looooong Blog. Hope you enjoyed! Miss you all,
Kris and Izabela
