Squirrels
He was so cute. Eventually he ran up the tree.
What a cute little squirrel!!!!!!! Hi again.
Yes I know so soon. Shock Horror etc... etc...
Anyways we actually managed to get out of Surrey the other day. (more shock and horror). And wait... Both Tyson and I together (yet again more shock and horror - please don't mind my sarcasm).
Right so on the 25th (and yes I did take a momment to remember Anzac day -unfortuntately I couldn't get to a service but I did spare a momment to remember). Now back to our journey out of Surrey. We went to Tooting in London in order to have an appointment to get our National Insurance Number.
As I understand it it's kind of like a combined tax file number and medicare number all in one. But just to make things more difficult rather than just complete a form and send it away (like at home) here you need to have an appointment to fill in the forms after which they process it and send you a card 5 to 8 weeks later.
So our appointment was set for 3pm. And guess what time I had to work....... hmmm yes 3pm. Unfortuntately as it was a Wednesday and a quiz
Up the tree
And sat there for a bit night we couldn't take the whole day off and instead got given night shifts. So we tried to call to change our times but apparently they don't answer the phones or return messages. So we decided we would go in early and chance it that we would get in early. (oh yes fun times!)
So the day went something like this.
6am - wake up and get ready. (didnt' go so well for Tyson)
6.44am - miss the bus we intended on catching as Tyson not ready yet
7.11am - catch the next bus to Redhill instead
7.40am - (or something like that) catch the train into London
8.30am - (or something like that) catch the tube to Tooting
8.40am - arrive at final destination only to find the office isn't open until 10am on Wednesdays (9am every other day!)
Ok enough of that it's annoying to type. So we went and had some breakfast at a small dodgey cafe place and waited. Also saw what the locals were like when a man walking along picked up a half smoked cigarette and stashed it for later. (I guess it makes the habit cheaper and it can't be much
hmmmm
two sexy bums???? worse for you then it already it). So after experiencing a bit of the local goings on we headed back to the Job Centre to wait for opening. It was about 10 to 10 and already there were 30 people waiting around outside. It did not look good.
Eventually a little man emerged from the building and called in all those with a 10am appointment. Hmmm no not us. Then 10.10. Still not us. Eventually we just went in. At the door you are supposed to then find your name on the list and go to the corresponding reception area. Because our appointments were so much later our list wasn't actaully up yet. (uhoh) So I asked the little man (ok he wasn't really little but maybe it will make this a little more interesting) if there was any chance we might get in earlier and he mumbles that “no no it's busy no chance etc... etc...” So despite his mumblings he let us in to see the receptionist. We then asked her if we could mover our appointments forward and she tells us it's not too busy and it shouldn't be a problem. She whips out the forms,
It was a long day.
Tyson has half a nap on the way home tells us to take a seat and 10 minutes later we sitting with an interviewer and she is filling in all the forms for us. (wasn't so hard after all little man!)
So after 75 pages of paperwork (well a lot anyways) we were finished and out of there just after 11.
So as not to waste our trip into London or the money we had already spent on transport (did I mention it cost us over 50 Pound to get into London for one day - a little extreme) we deceided to do a little exploring. I was keen to get to the zoo which we tried but it was too far and by the time we got close it was almost time to leave and not worth it. So we had a quick walk through regents park which was very pretty.
And possibly the most exciting part of the day. We got to see some squirrels. They were very cute running around. Was funny to watch a squirrel and a bird having a bit of a game/fight. The bird kept pecking at the squirrel then running away as the squirrel ran around and around. It
went on for a few minutes. Unfortuntately I couldn't get a video cause it was too far away.
So after being entertained by the squirrels for a while we had some lunch and started the journey in reverse home. Tube, train, taxi (as the bus wasn't going to get me to work on time). 15 minutes later I was at work and ready for the quiz night. (Oh yay!!!) It was definitely a long day. I was in bed and asleep by 11.30 but had to get up early again the next day to start at 7.
7 to 5 yesterday was not a good shift. I was very long and I was very tired last night. Tyson was lucky to get the night off.
And that was our journey out of Surrey. Exciting stuff I know.
On to perhaps more interesting matters.....
Tyson was excited this morning to actually get hold of some tickets to see a football match. West Ham United vs. Bolton (or something like that). So we are off to the football next Saturday to watch the match. Should be fun!
Well that's pretty much all I've got for you. I will write again soon when I have another half interesting story. I'm actually quite impress that I managed to write so much about something so little. And yes maybe you didn't actually care about our National Insurance Number appointment but... now you know all about it anyway.
Before I do finish. Something interesting that Harry showed us today was an article in the paper where Japanese people were buying what they thought were poodles on the internet. Turns out however that they were being sent sheep which were sheared to look like poodles. Have a look it's quite funny!
Another one that was amusing to us as Australians was the London marathon and everyone suffering badly from the heat. That was also quite amusing. It was over 21 degree celcius!!!!!!!
Ok really now that's all I have.
Until something else half exciting happens........
Love you all.
Bye bye now.
PS check out the video up top. I thought it was cute
