So April has arrived, and with it our first vistors to the new house. Wayne, Steph and Thomas stayed with us for 4 days at the beginning of the month. They drove down to us from Vegas and left us to head on to LA for a week of theme parks! After a day relaxing by the pool, we took them to Tombstone for a day out - thought Thomas might enjoy 'cowboy country'. As we mentioned in a previous blog entry, Tombstone is the site of the famous gunfight at the OK Corral and is a fun place to visit (especially if you are an 8 yr old we were hoping!) We also paid a visit to Boot Hill, the famous old graveyard which is more fun that it should be, mainly due to some interesting grave markers! And yes he did manage to leave with a Sheriffs Badge as all kids should!

Tombstone, bizarrely, is also the home to the worlds largest rosebush! This thing is massive and was planted by a Scottish woman over 120 years ago. Needless to say, Wayne and I allowed Steph and Ginnie to enjoy this treasure on their own!

The following day we went out for dinner to Pinnacle Peak Patio, a great (if a bit touristy) steakhouse in the North of the Phoenix valley where we all succeeded in demolishing various large bits of steak! Well all of us other than Wayne, who unfortunately was suffering from a stomach problem that meant he wasn't eating or drinking a thing! Probably one of the few visitors to the US, who will leave having lost weight! Wayne watched on amazed, and a little envious, as his wife, son and friends put away large quantities of meat followed by dessert, as the pictures of Thomas will testify!!

Other days were spent shopping, lazing by the pool or playing games in the garden, which Thomas really enjoyed, even though at this time of year the pool was a little cool for the grown ups (yes that's us!) to spend to much time in there! I'm sure come later in the summer we won't want to get out of it either!

It was great to see some familiar faces and catch up with friends from the old country and made us realize that the only thing we miss from home is the people, so hoping for a steady stream of visitors from around the world!
