As I mentioned in my last posting, I received a call from my co-worker, a funloving guy from my same homestate, who just happens to be staying at the same hotel. We went for a walk to go to Copper & Spice, a Thai-Indian place. Closed. Ended up walking for a while and stumbled upon The Precinct, something of a classic Irish bar. I ordered a Bulmer's (i.e. Magner's) cider and enjoyed that while my - heh - mate ordered a Beemish. And we chatted with the bartender, a very cute young fellow and it was about the most quintessential Irish experience you could have, much like ordering due capiccine y une brioche in Italy.

The lovely bartender, Ross, recommended a restaurant - Luigi Malone's - with a variety of food. I had the canary island spiced chicken with potatoes au gratin and fresh greens, and my co-worker had the surf & turf. Remembering that our bartender had mentioned liking the tiger prawns, we ordered some for takeaway.

When we got back to the Precinct, Ross was out (we found out, getting Chinese food), so we went to the attached nightclub (i.e. a dj'ed bar). I had another pint of cider (and sadly after two glasses of wine and two pints of cider, I am decidedly drunk, but not sick luckily!). Then we passed back to the traditiaional pub side -Ross was back. We gave him his tiger prawns and he was extremely excited, saying it was the best thing a patron had ever done for him -had to go and show his friends. That was neat. So, no, we didn't tip but apparently as Americans, we are compelled to share the joy back when someone is a really awesome person.

I should get some sleep - I have to be at work by 9am tomorrow! You may not see more posts from me until Saturday - I should be working 9-5 most days. Saturday though, I plan to go to the Cliffs of MOher and the Burren and suchlike.

That was nice
You have no idea of how one small act of kindness (bringing shrimp to Ross) can multiply a hundredfold. You are wonderful Ambassadors for your country! Too bad there aren't more vacationers like you! -A.T.
