Edit Blog Post

Apologies for the crap typing only I'm on a prehistoric computerand the space bar doesn't always work. Also, I was just about to publish my blogand it decided to erase all my hard work, so am mightily peeed off with the thing.

Enough of the winging..... so we left China Beach ( a couple of kms from Danang)with a coupleof Easy Riders. They offeredto take us from there to Hoi An for $5. Easy Riders are a large group of motorbikers that ride all overVietnam taking tourists on the back of their bikes(usually vintage models)andthey give you a bit ofan insight into lifein Vietnam.

About an hour and a half later, after seeing some stone carving place, we arrived at Hoi An. As soon as I saw the first tailorshop I knew that I (or rather my credit card) was going to be in trouble. There are over 200 tailor shops here all ready to dote on your every need. I started shopping at 8.30am in the morning, before it got really hot, and by 2pm the following day I was the proud owner of 11 different garments -all made to measure! And do you know how much this little lot cost me altogether..... about 50 quid!! So having worn the same clothes for the past 5 weeks I think I might just chuck the lot and start again!

I can't really tell you much about Hoi An itself as the only 'tourist' site we'vebeento was tolook at the Japanese Bridge and how silk is made, which was quite interesting, and the only thing that we've been to that was free. In short the silk worms weave a cocoon when they are about 28 days old. Thee cocoons are then added to a pot and boiled, and then their cocoon is put onto a loom and made into lots and lots of lovely things for me to wear!!

We also went to a Vietnamese Cookery Class at the Red Bridge Cookery class, so when I get home I can impress you all with my knowledge of Vietnamese food! It started off with a walk around the local market and then we went up the river on a boat for 20 minutes and arrived at our class. Parts of it were a little bit like being on a school excursion, but had a real feast at the end of the class.

We left Hoi An last night on another 12 hour bus ride which was much better than the previous one, could be something to do with the sleeping tablets I bought over here - they seem to do the trick, and we arrived in Nha Trang a couple of hours ago so going to investigate that now.

Any way folks will update you in a few days.
