Yesterday was Sunday. I taught at the JAC from 8:30 to 11:40, 2 kids classes. It was frustrating, because I didn't even have a lot of the materials that I was supposed to have, and thus couldn't follow the teachers book with lesson plans... but I just did what I could and have decided that the book is bunk when it comes down to it. In my first class, the kids all liked me I think.. one little girl took a berret out of her hair and put it in mine, and another girl gave me a sour candy. She was trying to explain what it was to me, but I didn't understand until I put it in my mouth. Everyone laughed. The second class was younger kids. There was one little guy named Bob, and his Dad was there, quizzing him on parts of his face. He was so sweet.
After school, I went home in the rain (it's so dirty here) and cleaned the bathroom, had a shower, then had a nap. Peter came home from his trek on the mountain, and we had a good talk before I went to bed.

Today is my first day off. I got up and took a cab to the gardens, which I first saw on my way to the JAC. I wandered around for a while, took a bunch of pictures... I went into this little aquarium and saw some pufferfish and some huge irridescent sharks (3 ft?) that reminded me of Katlin. I was walking and some Chinese people on an overpass yelled "Hello" so I looked up and they laughed, so I took their picture. I wandered around for a while more and found that there is an amusement park in the gardens, but it was very expensive so I didn't bother. I thought of Andrea though. If she was here, I might have splurged. Anyways, I walked into this area where the ground was covered with huge pigeons. I thought they were chickens at first. One flew up on my and I screamed and a bunch Chinese ladies laughed at me. I bought a little bag of corn kernels and fed them, and they landed all over me and ate out of my hand, and were all around my feet. I got some pictures but none are very good. After that, I wandered out of the gardens and caught a cab back to the school. I've been here since, emailing and doing my business, trying to upload pictures.. which isn't working at all. I'm trying to send them to Andrea at home right now. I talked to Katlin on MSN for a while, and then called him, which was good. It helps to talk to him.

I think I'll go home pretty quick here and clean the fridge, and sweep and mop the floors.

Keep in touch, everyone. I miss you all, but am doing okay.

Love Laura
