We teach at the same high school and commute together every day :)
So, I'm half way through my first practicum!

Its going well so far- I had a class on Thursday that I was absolutely dreading. They are a year 9 english class and they are NUTS! They are so crazy- it was kind of funny to watch when I was just observing, but when I had to get up and teach a double (80 minutes) lesson on POETRY I was nervous. I was nervous because poetry isn't exactly my strong suit, and also because my supervising teacher was going to be away on a field trip that day!

I did a unit on "Protest Poetry and Songs" and thought I would get their interest with songs by Pink, Lupe Fiasco, Public Enemy and a Poem by John Copper Clarke.... it kind of worked and the class ended up doing okay. They had to write their own protest poem and I was surprised at how many of them could not figure out something to protest about. (they are grade nines- they should be protesting EVERYTHING) So, most of them ended up being protests against school ("Why we should be able to have phones in class), homework- but there were a

The day after St Patrick's day celebrations we enjoyed an AMAZING brunch together...notice I'm wearing the same shirt :(
few really good ones aobu racism, discrimination and politics. So, I learned that good planning is the key to a good lesson 😊

Last weekend was St Patrick's day and we celebrated in full force! On Sunday I had some great difficulty getting the food colouring off of my hands and was worried that it would give the wrong impression at school. Luckily, it came off eventually and I didn't have to teach with green hands.

Next weekend I am going to hang out with my friend Craig who is in Australia on business. I am excited because I think we are going to see Macbeth at the Opera House... I'm excited to see more of Sydney too 😊

Also!!! how is this for randomness- My Mom and Ted are going to Nashville ( I think they left this morning) which just happens to coincide with Lisa's cross-country Doodlebops tour of the states! Both in Nashville at the same time- who knew? hopefully they will meet up!

I think that is it for me 😊
Miss everyone a lot 😊

Sounds like you're having a BLAST!
Kuhn, Buddy - You look like you've adjusted to the Australian culture quite well!! Drinks, Beach and surrounding yourself with a whole lot of ladies! Great to hear and see that you're having a great time. The pictures are fantastic and your stories have always been hilarious. Things are getting busy at Bloordale, but not nearly as exciting as down under. Keep the blogs coming. I enjoy hearing how you're doing and we all love being so jealous of your experience. All the best! Storey
