Luge
Ledge Swing Queenstown.....it's hit me hard on the old budget but it's one hell of a place. The main chunk going on the Nevis Highwire Bungy and the Ledge Swing. For the bungy, myself and Richie; an Irish lad I've been travelling for the last 2 weeks; decided to dress up as Batman and Robin Hood for the laugh. I managed to find some green tights, black pants and belt, green top and hat from a costume shop nearby. Don't think the meat and 2 veg appreciated it too much though cos it was a bit tight round the crotchal area. Still, it made a funny sight for folk as we walked down the street to the bungy centre to get picked up. The site is about 40mins out of town in the hills and it's not in the most senic of areas. After getting kitted up we got into a small cart which took us to the jumping pod suspended over the Nevis River. When it's your time to jump they say 1-2-3 bungy then you commit suicide, in your mind at least. They reckon you get 8 and half seconds worth of freefall before springing back up. The ground rush

Leap of faith you get is incredible cos of the 134m drop, it's definitely one of the best things I've done.
The day after we headed up to the Ledge Swing via the sky gondola which basically does exactly what it says on the tin. We were still on a bit of a high from the day before so I wasn't even half nervous for this one, check out the video. Also on top on the hill is the Skyline Luge where you drive down a track in the hills in a tray on wheels with handle bars. I managed to stick Richie in the dirt once and cut his arm open. Got me back thought when he put me into the wall, the b@stard! We did that run 11 times overall cos it was only 22sheets for 5 goes, managed to blag an extra go on the second set by telling em our barcodes we're knackered on our tickets. The nightlife there is sweet as well, paddy's night was a good crack. Seemed like everyone made the effort to tart up and don the old green. We took a bottle of Jagermeister round with us which meant we were well blind

Textbook body position by the end of the night. Tried the same trick a few nights later by taking some Vodka in a hip flask out but got found out and subsequently thrown out of the pub. Can't do owt these days eh!
A few days ago I went on a 2 hour cruise of Milford Sound. The journey time was ridiculous, basically a 10 hour bus ride overall, mainly 'cos the driver kept stopping off every 2 mins for photo opps and piss breaks. Still when we got there I wasn't dissapointed as the views were class. The boat takes a loop to the Tasman Sea then back to the dock. On the way, you pass a few waterfalls and seals that live on the rocks there. I had a few tins with me as well which always adds the occasion.
After Queenstown, I reached Dunedin which is Gaelic for Edinburgh. Not sure it's in the same league though as it's not that all that much kop to be honest. We went out on Sunday and it was dead even though Monday was a public holiday. Back home, it would have been rammed, especailly if we had 25,000 students like
Dunedin has. Our hostel did have a table tennis table though which is always a good laugh. I went on the Cadbury factory tour there which was worth a visit mainly cos they shovelled a ton of free chocolate onto everyone. On the way out of the City. we visited Baldwin Street which is the worlds steepest. Not sure what they do in Winter when it's iced over cos it's got a gradient of 35%.
I'm now in Lake Tekapo where I think I'm just going to kick back for a couple days before heading back over to Christchurch and upto to Picton for the ferry to the North Island. The place here is a bit like Wanaka, might even go for a dip in the Lake even though it's bloody freezing!
As Bugs Bunny would say, "that's all folks"....
