Christina here:

We're back in the same "internet cafe," which doesn't have a cafe, but does have dirty little cubicles with internet. And a very weak fan, but at least a fan. It's 9pm, & I'm extremely hot. Wishing for cooler air doesn't make it happen, so I'll just keep writing. News:

1. My main camera has stopped working. I shouldn't complain--it actually works obediently, beautifully, even superbly, unless I ask it to record something, at which point it refuses. So it is now resting quietly while we use the 2nd camera.

2. I may be appearing as an extra in a big-budget Telegu feature film. Yep, you read that right. Crazy, huh? This morning we saw the film crew shooting at our hotel again. We said hello to Sunil, the Technical Supervisor we chatted with yesterday. After talking awhile, he said, "hey. Would you like to appear in the film?" He arranged with the director to have me sit at a table in a restaurant scene, an extra. I agreed, excited at this random experience, and then he reconsidered. "Would you like to be featured in a scene?"

I still don't really know what this means, and actually I think it's really just another scene where I'll be an extra, but this time they'll make sure I'm in costume, which I hear may involve temporary tatoos and "hip" clothes. (Ha! They talked about "Indian-izing" me a bit, making me look more hip and modern, as it's important for the theme of the film. I'm game, but have no idea how they're going to do it. I can't quite imagine me as hip & modern in America, let alone India.) We're supposed to connect tonight by phone, and if all goes well, I'll be in the background in a modern beauty shop scene. The whole thing cracks me up. Who'd-a-thunk? We'll let you know how this turns out. Sheryl got some good pics of the production crew at work, but we're not able to upload anything at this time. Maybe we'll be able to add some pics tomorrow. Sheryl's going to try to get some photos & even a little film clip on set, but we're not sure how much latitude they'll give us on that.
