Up at dawn again for a rush hour drive into Sydney to return the van. We didn't have a very good map and somehow fluked stumbling across a road we knew was near the depot. We gave the van back, told them about Gemma's experiences with insect bites every night in the van and all we got in return was a blank look. Overall the idea of exploring Australia in this way is an excellent one and something that we'd definitely recommend. Wicked Vans were a bit of fun, but more expensive than their less colourful competitors apparently. The insect bites might sound trivial but they were a big deal, and they definitely adversely affected our experience. That said, being able to just stop at the side of the road and sleep makes long drives cheaper and a bit different.

We caught the train into Sydney's centre and found our Mountbatten Hotel home for the next 3 nights. This is a GREAT place, and if we ever return to Sydney on a budget again we'll probably stay here. Very clean and modern - with free Wi-Fi - and run by really friendly people. Talking of Wi-Fi, we were able to log onto this www.travelblog.org website and found we had a comment:

wow that poor women
I saw your blog and was very interested in reading it, But oh my god , you are a negative dude , i think every day of the blog i have read so far you bitch and moan. So much so that i now am avoiding your blog . I feel sorry that a women married such a negative dude , who complains away his life.

So we have lost a reader and Ed is a negative dude. We will try to be more upbeat in future - we don't want anyone else to have to avoid our blog.

The remainder of the day was just spent on really boring, dull chores - life couldn't get any worse than this. We bought some more flight tickets and Ed went to the dentist. As the sun went down we went up the Sydney Tower to watch sunset and it was an amazing view of the city. We even managed to post our Mother's Day cards in 'the highest working postbox in the southern hemisphere'. After this we thought about going to the cinema but thought again and ate sushi for dinner.

New readership drive underway
In an attempt to make up for the loss of 1 (one) reader, I hereby promise to try and recruit 2 (two) new readers to your blog. Keep up the good work and give Mr. Pink a small polish for me! Neil xx
