Hey everyone!
Turns out internet access was ridiculously expensive where i was staying so thats why its taken me so long to write, and i haven't replied to any e-mails. I'll try and catch up over the next couple of days (i was very excited to discover 19 unread messages when i got back and not too many junk, so good job everyone).
Since i last write i visited my Nana in London and opened up a UK bank account (i'm sure that was thrilling news for all of you). However i also went to Cambridge on Monday which was a bit more exciting. Caught the bus - pretty reasonable price (only £11 return) - and arrived about lunch time on Monday. I was starving so i got some fish and chips at a nearby pub which was really nice until i got to the centre of the fish which i discovered was kinda cold (as in it was frozen-ish). Me being me i didn't complain and just decided i wouldn't be eating there again. But about 30 mins late i started feeling a bit wierd, and started getting asthma accompanied by a headache and a really sore throat and runny
nose. I know, not your typical food poisoning symptoms, but who has ever heard of a cold that hits really suddenly and then after i had a short nap was gone? Seriously i'm asking! So i had a pretty quiet night that night. The hostel was mainly full of over 50 year olds and a school age group that left not long after i arrived, and i couldn't find a pub with any students in it despite walking around the entire city.
Anyway before i start the second day (groan from all readers as they realise i wasn't finished!) i should cut back to before i left. A little bit like a flashback in a movie except everything isn't in black and white. Anyway i bought the Lily Allen album a couple of days before i left for Cambridge and thought it was really cool so i looked her up on the internet and saw that she was doing a concert in Cambridge ironically on the second night i was going to be there. However i didn't get excited cause it'd been sold out for months. However, that didn't take into account those trusty scalpers on e-bay (i know i
feel guilty - but not guilty enough not to bid!!). So anyway i wasn't sure the ticket would ever find me cause i had to get them posted to the hostel but they arrived sure enough early on the Tuesday morning so that set me off in a good mood. I spent most of the day working around the city, looking at the various colleges, rivers and drunken yobos sitting on a street corner yelling things at people working past (they were there every day!!!). That night i queued outside Lily's concert with a wierd mix of people. They stretched from 8 to 60, from teeny bopper to alternative fans. I don't know whos listened to Lily Allen's but its actually full of swearing and adult themes, and i think that quite a lot of people there to see the concert had heard the censored version of smile, thought that it was cute and bought tickets for their whole family. Anyway, true to form i liked the warm up act almost as much as the main act. They are called The Bird and the Bee and they have a free download to anyone who is interested on the website -
www.thebirdandthebee.co.uk. And after they finished Lily came on. It was a really good concert, she sang all the songs on her album and 3 or 4 covers. However she outdid the Scissor Sisters in swearing, went through 4 or 5 cigarettes on stage, drank quite a lot of a dark brown liquid - but it all just added to the concert (although i think that some people weren't expecting her to be quite so filthy which added to my enjoyment all the more).
So anyway Wednesday i did more walking around the city and handed a few resumes out (but i don't think i'm going to get anything and i'm not that bothered because Cambridge was really pretty but didn't seem to have much going on - i mean Jason Donavon is doing a gig in May and its already sold out!!). That night my legs were so sore from three days of walking (especially after two weeks of TV watching). And then i came back to my Aunt's yesterday and I'm flying off to Edinburgh on Monday.
So anyway hopefully you'll all hear from me soon (yes Trent i will write you a reply to your message so that
you don't get huffy!! - on this note Sophie said that you told her that you had written me a 1000 word e-mail, whilst this is technically true its only because you sent me the same 532 word e-mail twice!!). Yes, Marcy your message did work but i didn't have the international dialing stuff with me at the time so i couldn't reply - but thanks anyway because now i have one message in my inbox and don't look like quite as much of a loser!!).
