We left bangkok (thank god) at 7pm to embark on our long bus journey down to Koh Phangan as the full moon party was being held on Sunday the 4th. It was a 15 hour journey down to the ferry port I managed the long journey with the aid of some sleeping pills, although I had I pretty bad neck in the morning,
"The full moon party is a Mecca for travelers and has become a global dance music festival held on the beach in Phangan, with 10 major sound systems on the beach playing varieties of music."
We never really got into the party vibe whilst we were there. It was a bit disappointing to discover it was very much like a bigger dark Scarborough beach with lots of drunk people, shame, oh well was an experience and it was free!!
We have a beach hut on the most beautiful private beach; right on the white sand the sea is crystal clear and warmer than any heated pool I have been in. It’s completely out of the way but can get a bit boring as it’s so quiet, we made friends with some Canadians and some Australian guys but they've all moved on now. The accommodation is really cheap about three pounds per night, but as we have made mates with one of the guys in charge he's dropped the price for us, yey!

So our plan is to hang here for a week or so as it’s so cheap and save some pennies for the rest of the trip,

They train people to dive here on the island and as I really want to dive the Great Barrier Reef when I reach Australia. I think I may take up a two day course this week to gain a level two certificate as its cheaper to take here than in Oz.

Anyway I am off now, Take care you lot
I; miss you and will keep you up to date,
lots of love, x

We hired this beauty in Pangan to travel on the poorly maintained dirt tracked roads to the north of the island where the beaches are beautiful!

Go for it Cherie!! Sometimes you may feel lonely, sometimes you may feel sad - but give it a try, An know that you are living a 50 year old's dreams Sue Bonello's!! Well impressed Preston. Most of all do it for yourself and if and when you feel you have had enough then come home - that's fine. Remember you ask or seek no ones approval- go for it girl!!!!Those who care and believe in you will be there for you at the end of of your journey. xxxxxxxxx

Keep the commentary coming, I'm very jealous. Every week at Welburn the young people ask where you are and what you are doing...... you've not been forgotten. This is an experience you will remember for the rest of your life. Keep safe and enjoy yourself. XXX Cath
