We spent one full day at the grand canyon. We would have spent more, but we're trying to get to New Orleans by the 8th. My experience in the canyon made me want to go back when we have more time. I'd love to get all the way to the bottom, then up the other side.
I'd never seen it before, Brandi had only been there once, it was amazing. The canyon just goes on and on for days, with all these distinct different colors along the walls. We couldn't even see the bottom from where we were. We hiked down into the canyon, we saw three condors, which is rare. Later we found out they were in the skies because a while before we got there a pack mule had fallen off the trail. You all know falling of the trail in the Grand Canyon is slightly different from falling off the trail on a regular hike. Anyways, the condors were eating the corpse, and so we were fortunate enough to see the engangered birds. We also saw Ravens in mating season, doing their air-acrobatics. There was so many of them it was really a sight to see.

it was SSSOOOOOOO cold.
night we went to a ranger presentation, he told us all about Raven mythology, and gave many examples of their cunning. Turns out, they can talk, problem solve, and have the largest brain size/body size ratio of any bird. Really cool stuff.
We did freeze our butts off though. The first night we were there the low was 15 degrees F, the second it was 5. Of course we were in Gimli the whole time, who doesn't have any sort of heater, so we layered up and used a lot of blankets. In the morning, the bus had a layer of frost on the inside! Our vegetable oil froze solid in the containers, so we had to run deisel for a long time.
To sum it up, it was a great stop, with beautiful scenery and we had a really good time. I'd like to go back when it's warmer and we have more time.

you can see it coating the ceiling. That's what we woke up to, along with frozen bottles of water, and the ability to see our breath.
