Am I in France or Vietnam?
The cone headed lady kind of gives it away!! Hi there......
Since my last blog I've had a great few days! That evening of my last blog I went out for some dinner alone and was sat having a drink feeling like a bit down as I'd been on my own for nearly 2 days and drinking alone aint much fun! Anyway, a couple from Aussie came over and asked if they could join me, they were soooo lovely!! I spent the night with them having a few drinks and just had a really nice night. I've got another place to stay when i go to Aus, thats 3 places in Aus so far. I've got to say, the Aussies have been the most friendly nationality I've met so far!
The next day I was booked onto my boat trip. When I turned up i thought it was going to be crap. It was full of locals and old couples, GREAT!! Anyway, I got on the boat in a really bad mood but tried to make the best of it then after about an hour on the boat 3 Aussie lads came down from the roof the boat and they were a right laugh! The boat trip was
such a good day. We visited 4 islands, went snorkelling, drank at a floating bar in the sea, relaxed on a gorgeous beach, got a massage and pedicure, danced on the boat to Vietnamese karaoke and ate the best seafood and fruit salad I've ever had! All in all not a bad way to spend a day! The Aussies in thier usual friendly way have offered me accomodation and a job in Sydney - Result!!
After the boat trip I met up with Chris and Carly for dinner, it was so good to see them and swap stories of where we've been and what we've been up to. Its strange that we only saw eachother 2 weeks ago but had so much to tell eachother! It was like meeting up with old friends, its amazing how you become so close to people who you've only known for a relatively short amount of time! Anyway, we had a great night at a bar called the Sailing Club, They serve cocktails in huge jam jars! They're so good but get you absolutely mashed, even after a couple!! Needless to say we had a brilliant time and we arranged to meet up
Floating bar!!
Bar in the middle of the sea! Not bad hey?? at the beach the next day at 10am, yeah right!!
That morning i felt like death and have vowed not to drink for a few days at least! None of us turned up to the beach till midday, had a bit of lunch and soaked up some rays for a couple of hours then i had to go and get my night bus to Hoi an, 14 hour bus journey. I actually managed to sleep all the way and felt great when I arrived in Hoi an.
Hoi an is a beautiful city, its set off the coasta nd like a couple of places in Laos is influenced by the french, its like walking down little french back streets (pics to follow) and it has gorgeous cafes and shops! Its actually has thousands of shops, you can basically get any clotehs you want tailored, they do amazing suits, coats etc..... You can take in a picture of what you want and they will make it like for like at the fraction of the cost! I could have completely gone to town but as I'm on a budget and haven't got the room to carry anything I just went
for a pair of shorts, a top, a bikini and some sandals which cost me about 15 quid, not bad hey?? After this I was dragged by one of the shop owners to have a manicure, they're soooo pushy round here, it only cost 50p though so i thougt why not? After this she just started threading my legs, ouch!! Threading is basically like waxing but takes twice as long and is twice as painful. they pull the hairs out with a piece of cotton. I was there for hours but she didn't charge me and I now have totally smooth legs which should last for about 2 months!!
Last night i went for some dinner and had an early night as I'm on my own again, boo hoo!! Vietnam has been the most difficult place to meet people so far. They don't have guesthouses with communal areas so its harder to get talking to people and this area is less travelled so there aren't so many westerners. I actually don't mind being alone for while as I know I'll meet people in a couple of days on a 2 day boat tour I'm doing in Halong Bay! This
afternoon I'm off to Hue, another small town up the coast, thats only a 3 hour bus journey which is great!!
Anyway I'd better head off for some lunch, Cao Lau which is gorgeous noodle soup which i've been living on!!
Sorry that the blogs seem to be getting longer, i'm trying keep it as concise as possible but not doing a very good job, I know!
Pics will be added in a few days when I get to Hanoi!
Hope you're all keeping well.....

Sign me up!!
I think I want to visit this place - tailor-made clothing, manicures, pedicures and waxes for cheap? Gorgeous beaches and delicious food? Hey, a big shopping spree and a hotel for a 5er-a-night, the trip would pay for itself. Sign me up!! Just have to get over the price of the flight... Hope your boat tour is a good one - oh, and I must admit, I'm a bit disappointed you only 'snogged' the hot guy...opps, I mean, of course, a good girl such as your self, did the right thing...good girl Suzie...
