Snow covered Kili...Snow covered Kili...Snow covered Kili...

There was more snow on Mt. Kilimanjaro this week than we had ever seen before..
It's already almost half way through the month of January.... 2007 and we've just completed the first seminar of the year up at Kioga...There were 2 baptisms and over 100 present for worship on Sunday morning in this small mountain side building which usually runs around 40-50. The church is growing daily here in Tanzania!

This month Brent will be going to language school out in Usa River, starting Jan. 15th. He will be taking a 3 week intermediate course in Ki-Swahili.... improving on his language skills. Tonight during dinner, our dear friend, Moses called from up at Kioga and I sat and listened to my husband talk and have a compete conversation in a different language and I thought to myself, wow. How life has changed in the last 4 months since we have arrived back in Tanzania.

We've been house hunting in Moshi all this week and took the day off today to be here in Arusha for Wednesday night class.... Shasta is teaching the ladies class and doing a wonderful job. Tomorrow she and I are going out to lunch, just the two of us, a ladies lunch out... and then going to a Bible study in Monduli together. That's one of my favorite things to do here.. the home studies are always so varied and unique, more personal and .. with each one you begin to grow closer to the one you're studying with, you dig deeper into the word, and challenge yourself to grow in the process... and then you make memories that stay with you forever. I always get the excited butterflies in my stomach just before going, because there's always the hope of saving one more soul! If we will just sow the seed, God will give the increase!

Like always little Umi was the last one to leave the building today and that was the smile that made my day....

Friday we have a few more house veiwing appointments... or as I would describe them in Africa, owner hunts, to try to locate the owners of houses you find as you drive down the road and see House for Let signs on the gates. You call the number, hope they speak at least a little English and hopefully they are somewhere in town where they can meet you to be able to see the inside of the house.
what's around your corner...what's around your corner...what's around your corner...

have you ever considered joining us for the summer campaigns... Summer Missions could be just around the corner for you and your family...
One of the first things I look for in the house, is where will "YOU" our visitors be staying... making sure we have space for any and all of you who want to come and spend some time doing some great evangelism work with us down in Moshi... You are always welcome and there will always be room in our home for you and your family to join us! (that's the house I'm searching for!) A place to sit and visit, a place to rest our heads, and with the gorgeous veiw of Kilimanjaro near by hopefully we can intice you to come back again and bring more back with you.

I caught Garrett last Sunday taking a Swahili bible with him to church and trying to follow along in Swahili. He did a pretty good job. We're all adjusting really well.....the kids are loving life in Africa. Emily is doing really well at the language as well, she makes new friends everywhere we go.... Little Gracie, well she doesn't have a shy bone in her body... She says "JAMBO" (hello) to everyone she meets and Shikamo(I honor you) to every older person she passes by.... We've started back at school and hitting books again keeps us busy, here around the house.

While we were in Moshi, we went out to check out the International school of Moshi (ISM) while we were there just to see what it was like... And it was amazing.. a great campus, large variety of classes, music, sciences, computer labs, Rugby and soccer teams, an Art wing, and so much more.... a highly remarkable school, with graduates receiving full scholarships to Harvard, Yale, Princeton and several other remarkable Universitites...I would love it if we could send the kids to this wonderful school, for such a unique education oppertunity....the only problem was the cost... its a little out of our budget for now but maybe later on down the road, it could be a possibility... But it was nice to know that its there. And it was actually just a block down the road from one of the houses we looked at. Here's the website of the school, if you teachers are interested in checking it out.

Moshi all around had everything you could need or want. Its hotter there, but the streets are much neater and cleaner... Not as congested as Arusha, but still a bustling city. Brent found a meat market we could use and we bought some, and tried out the meat yesterday... it was really good quality, shipped in from Kenya and South Africa. We found a little restraunt down town that has chicken nuggets, frech fries, and banana splits and that just made the kids day all the better! A good ice cream is hard to come by in East Africa....

Well I just wanted to send a quick note out with a few pictures from the week.... We had a good down pour Tuesday on our way back to Arusha..... We had a beautiful veiwing of Mt. Kilimanjaro with more snow on the top than we had ever seen before.... then on the road back to the house we had 3 large fallen trees in the road, so Brent and Kelly had to get out and chop down 3 trees in the falling rain with a machedy knife.... Always a new story to tell.....

I hope you are all enjoying the reports and pictures, I always feel like we miss so much and have a lack of words to do justice to the
Chopping down banana trees in the rain...Chopping down banana trees in the rain...Chopping down banana trees in the rain...

the road to our house was blocked
things we see and experience. I hope they at least give you a little glimpse into the daily life of living in Tanzania.. and the great things that are happening here all around us.

We love you and miss you all...
