We went to the Vatican this morning hoping to see the Sistine chapel. We could have, but we would have to wait with 20,000 of our best friends in a line that went all the way around St. Peter’s Square. I’ll buy the postcard.

The rest of the day was spent wandering our way back to our hotel past Castel St. Angelo, Piazza Navora, The Pantheon, Tempio Adriano, and again the Coliseum. We must have walked 5 miles.

This is a city filled with surprises. We are lost most of the time, and yet around every corner is another famous Piazza or monument.

One of the highlights of our days is the Gelato break at around 3:00 every afternoon. Today we had some very good Gelato as we gazed at the ancient columns of Tempio Adriano.

One more day of exploration, then the long trek home.
