Well, so the Beijing "night show" was cheesy and boring Asian vegas-style dancing. On the fourth day we had a good time checking out Beijing University, the very impressive summer palaces, a pearl shop/factory and the trendy downtown/shopping area. We celebrated my Mom's birthday at a vegan place with fake meat creations that looked extremely real. See the pics!- Jeff

cultural interactions
I would be interested in some anecdotes that accentuate the differences and/or similarities between traveling in China, versus oh let's say Washington DC. Any interesting conversation with the locals? Wacky tales from the underbelly? Interact. These are the days of our lives.

Beautiful photos. I will buy some if I can figure out how to, but I hope to travel to China soon. Maybe your mom is on her way to becoming a vegetarian. So much food for such a petite person.
