Oh dear ..we thought things were going too well.... Just got an e-mail from Raul our friend in Madrid, to quote him..."do we know that our airline has gone bust" Wwwwhaaaat!!!!!!!

We were supposed to be off to a remote bit of the Andes tomorrow for 5 nights until we leave, for a splice of panaramo´s in the mountains, horseback riding and trekking, backed up with roses and chilean champagne to celebrate the end of our honeymoon...its all paid for and everything.

Instead we are stuck in Quito, no hostel to live in so far, and a desperate trip to the Bristish Embassy to see if they can ship us back to Blighty.

This is serious now, if anyone knows of any news, we are finding it really hard to get info and we are running out of money, we have insurance, so hopefully they will cover it all, its just a bit of a bummer, as life was just going so well.

The airline is AirMadrid - if anyone can find any news over there it woul dbe gretaly appreciated, we rang Spain up today, but noone understood our sketchy spanish and none could speak English.

Anyway we are alive and things could be worse, we could always get a job washing up or sweeping the streets of Ecuador.

Hopefully we´ll see all of you soon.

Loads of love and thoughts P+k

Air Madrid
http://www.livinginperu.com/news/2916 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6197497.stm On December 16, 2006 AirMadrid suspended all its flights (leaving thousands of people stranded) as a consequence of the Spanish government investigation of its operations, due to constant customer's claims of poor service that resulted in the cancelation of its permit to operate. It is unknown if operations will resume. Air Madrid, blaming Spanish goverment, said in a statement that it was giving a list of ticket-holders to the civil aviation authority, which falls under the Development Ministry, for it to “adopt whatever measures it might deem appropriate to compensate them for the damage its conduct has caused.” Air Madrid didn't show any intention of refunding tickets and as expected, the carrier’s press office said it had no information on this.

So sorry to hear this. We had read about it in the papers over here in Buenos Aires but hadn´t realised it would affect you. Hope you manage to get home OK. Lots of love Nadine and Rob x
