Created in the 15th century when Jews were forbidden to bury their dead outside their own district. Space was scarce, so bodies were buried on top of each other in an estimated 12 layers. Over the centuries, lopsided tombstones formed unruly, poetic groupings.

Hilarious. Watching people jostle for their place to watch the clock do its thing... which is about as interesting as watching paint dry. Legend has it the master clockmaker Hanus himself said the Old Town Councilors had his eyes burnt out with a hot poker, so that he would never build an instrument of such beauty anywhere else. Methinks this may be where the saying "Better than a poke in the eye with a hot stick" comes from.

A fabulous Gothic structure with its twin spires is a noticeable feature on the Prague skyline.

Contained within this Jewish Synagogue were some paintings done by local Jewish children to reflect how they feel about their heritage (including the holocaust) and the future.
