Hello everyone

To celebrate our 3rd Anniversary this week we treated ourselves to a night away in Sedona, a beautiful town 2 hrs north of us in Red Rock country. Sedona is famed as a retreat for artists and mystics! For those who believe in such things, the area contains a number of Vortex (not sure of the plural!), and the Red Rocks are known as Healing Rocks... I'll leave you to make up your own minds! But the countryside is amazing; canyons, red rocks and rocky outcrops surround the town.

We stayed in a beautiful small little Hacienda hotel called El Portal - www.elportalsedona.com (Room 4 if you look at their website!). Pretty expensive, but not only was it our anniversary, but also our Christmas Present to each other, so why not! We drove up in the morning of the 20th, and then spent the afternoon wandering around the town. Sedona is about 4500 feet in elevation, so it was pretty cool (45f/8c) especially at night (25f/-3c) but dry and sunny! At sunset we went up to the Chapel in the Rock, a small chapel built into the mountainside that affords beautiful views, especially at sunset...

That night we walked around the Red Rock Fantasy Christmas Lights; a charity display in a housing development where about 50 houses set up displays for visitors to vote on. It was nice to stroll around and see the lights in crisp cold weather! Enjoying a hot cider on the way...

The next day we took a jeep tour around Red Rock Country. It was a couple of hrs in the back of a jeep with the guide driving. It was great as it was just the 2 of us, so pretty personalised! He took us off road and it was pretty rough at some points - amazing the type of terrain that these vehicles can get over; got bounced out of our seats (literally!) a couple of times! In the afternoon we went for a hike (a walk to us Brits!) around one of the rocky outcrops; took about 1hr 40 mins to cover about 3.5 miles, but great vistas. It is great to be so close to these things and be able to get outdoors and do 'stuff' even at this time of year...

Enjoy the pictures....
