Me on Buster
Just getting to grips with horse riding After the Tongariro Northern Circuit I relaxed in Taupo abit and recouperated before I moved on to River Valley a remote place just south of Tehape- basically in the middle of no where, yet perhaps the most beautiful of all the places Ive been!
The lodge was located in between a gorge next to a river. picturesque!
Here I realxed the first day taking in the views then the day after I went Horse trekking, and I can honestly say it was absolutely amazing I cant describe how cool it felt.
I did a half day exploring the areas of farm land around River Valley.
The views were spectacular, My horse was called 'Buster' - abit wilder than the rest I think. Although it took me about 30minutes to get going I had it sust and soon we were galloping at full pace, jumping over logs, galloping through woods, trotting up steep roads, decanting in the fields. This was probably the best decision of mine so far as I wouldnt normally do something like this. It felt fantastic I cant tell you how cool it felt.
The half day trip was just me and the guide which made it even better.
Me and Buster
Look at that backdrop! My guide was called Jessie and she was really good and let me go off abit on my own. I feel really different about horse riding now and I think its one of the best things you can do! I enjoyed every minute of it!
I stayed an extra night as River valley is specifically known for its Whit water rafting.
It was good - not quite as good as the white water rafting in Rotorua but longer and more unconvention or less comercial as it were. i snapped a paddle when we past through this narrow channel - which was pretty funny.
It was good value for money tho since we were on the water for about 3 hours. Still really fun.
