Christmas starts early down under! It's merely the beginning of advent (the advent calendar tells me so), but my work Chrimbo party, the party in the park and the Christmas parade have all been and gone. The party in the park is apparently an event for 2 groups of people - families and youths whom which to get sozzled. Not deterred by such a description I left work at 6 to trundle on down, have a picnic in the sun and wait with the other 180,000 people (half the population of Ch.ch, many of which had been there long before us, but we managed to get spectacularly good seats) for the festivities to get under way (erm... there's a guy on a computer next to me who keeps grunting to himself - now he sings. It's very distracting). Anyways, we had our picnic accompanied by some fine wine and cider (it's the official drink of the pommes apparently). Somebody - Louise or Emma - forgot to involve glasses in the picnic packing, so swig-age was involved. Some kindly family positioned infront of us offered us plastic wine glasses after a while and the meal was complete. We also tempted away their

4 year old child from them with tim-tams and we played quite merrily for the next few hours. A very jolly way to start the festivities.

Next signal that Christmas was on it's way involved a parade where Christmas actually marched into town down the main street. Bill and Ben, the Simpsons, lions, kiwis, and of course, Father Christmas were included. I was unfortunately at work during the parade. Fortune was on my side however, as they march directly past my coffee shop giving me a fantastic view from the bridge traversing the road. I took an hour and a half off of work to savour the display and take a few snapshots. No one seemed to mind, and I argued that everyone should be watching the parade rather than buying coffee. Best hour and a half's pay I've ever earnt.

Not long after this was the works Christmas night out. I was of course doing the early shift the next day as I get all the worst shifts because I'm new and a general pleb to all. This did not spoil my party spirits. Many a person left at a decent time, but I struggled on into the wee hours with one of my bosses and the next day proved painful for both of us. Since these times, no major trips have been made. We did do the ready-steady-cook challenge again (where each individual goes off with a dollar and purchases one ingredient for a dessert). Some muppet bought baked beans because they thought they were "sweet - it'll work". I think it was rather tasty actually. Other incidents have involved a party where you have a 4 courses in 4 different countries with a train to take you to each one. I constructed a train out of cardboard and the dining table was transformed! Others painted classic masterpieces such as the Taj Mahal and the Eiffel tower to create a certain ambiance for each course. Genius.

Monster trucks also featured in our entertainment last week. Having looked forward to it a little too much, I was not sure upon our arrival. A rather old man did some wheelies in jeeps, on motorcycles, with clowns, on lawnmowers etc. He was rather good, but there are only so many wheelies one can watch without them becoming a tad boring. Then we saw a guy jump 14 cars, lorries, campervans

No party in the park is complete without a few friends
in a one-er. Things were beginning to pick up. Then the big daddios...The monsters of all the trucks came out. They're just normal cars on scaffolding with enormous wheels (bigger than me) attached. They also make a lot of noise - even more that ours with it's way dodge exhaust. They squished smaller cars like bugs. They revved louder than one of Angela's burps. They were pretty groovy all in all.

So that was that. The past few weeks accompanied by many a picture so you don't have to read it. This week we do another road trip masseeeeve. Most excellent.

Hope you're all in the Christmas spirit. I'll get Christmas before all of you. Ha ha.

Ta ra for now. xxx

Although, the thought did cross our mind that this might be the only thing our car is good for cometh the end of our travels. It'd be a cool way for him to go.
