Hannover: Serendipity strikes again

Hannover was a complete unknown to us but as it revealed itself in playful statues, fossils and dinosaur bones, stately half-timber buildings and a lively streetlife in the evenings, we felt lucky that we had chosen to visit it.

Knowing only that the Nanas were sculptures, we headed over to their spot along the river which was quite close to our "home" for 2 days.

And Caroline had me completely flummoxed. Split personality? Maybe I'm just too literal. I enjoyed their playfulness but couldn't help thinking nobody would have bought them if I'd made them.

On a more serious note, here is the gifted theologian, with good intentions, whose work divided the Christian Church and brought about such bitterness and havoc.

Hannover Rathaus dome is in the background. We had decided to head for the Maschsee, the large body of water behind it. We never got quite that far, though.

We were amused by the list of regulations, especially the explicitness of the one on the bottom left.

While at the Maschpark, we got caught in the rain and decided to check out the museum across the road. A brilliant move, it turned out.

The difference in rules is amusingly indicative of the target audience.
