A very busy day in Dehli today, woke up early to find it was nice and sunny outside. First task was to get ourselves some tickets up to Shimla.

It was strange entering the Tourist ticket bureau at the train station as suddenly we were surrounded by other western travellers! We booked a train up to Shimla, in the mountains, via Kalka village. We didnt have enough rupees to pay and the guy had already printed our tickets so we had to run across the road to change a travellers cheque, to the visible amusment of the man serving us.

We then caught our first autorickshaw to connaught place. The traffic here is crazy, especially in a rickshaw, nipping in and out of cars, narrowly avoiding hitting pedestrians- people dont tend to look as much when they cross the road here, just let the traffic go around them!

Rickshaw dropped us off near Connaught Place and we started to walk the rest of the way, when we were accosted by a funny little man in round glasses! He introduced himself and asked where we were from, and our names etc, then demanded "I am your friend" and "I am your pen-pall" we seemed to have little choice in the matter. We exchanged adresses (god knows if he'll actually write) and gave us some advise about India. He asked us back to his quarters, but we politely refused. He said he hoped to have made, in his words, "an indelible mark on our inner minds"! We said he certainly had. He also tried to kiss chloe bye, but his yellowing mouth and rotting teeth were uninvited, so she just shook his hand.

Connaught Place was relaxing, had delicious ice cream shakes, its clearly the posh area of Dehli. All the shops and restaurants were armed with guards- even McDonalds, which had a big advert for a McVeggie Mac to appeal to the large vegetarian population.

We ate in a revolving restaurant, gave us a great view over Dehli at night, especially good as there was a full moon. Went to bed early for our early start tommorrow- catching the 6.05 to Shimla!
